56K??? 4APC protege show cars....PICS!!

Those lights are not legal as they have no side or rear reflectors. Thus, they are not DOT approved. If they do start selling those, the production version will most likely look noticably different.

now that everyobne says those are real taillights, i wanna get a pair :D

yea but they already sell them for civics and what not.
True, but the cars that have these lights available to them also have seperate red reflectors on the rear & side on seperate parts of the car (trunk, bumper, fender, etc). On the Protege5, Mazda included these reflectors in the tailight itself. So for the 3D light to be DOT approved for the Protege5, it must also replace its reflectors.

That's what I was thinking. APC learned its lesson last time it sold "DOT" approved lights with no side reflectors. I dout they'll try it again. I have scene a pair of those somewhere, not for the P5 but I think for the Celica and they have a small red reflector on the side that is lined in with tail light and doesn't look too bad. So, mabey not all is lost for those who want these.

As for the comment about wishing they were black, you're in luck. The whole idea behind this design is so that you can paint the grey area to match your car. I think that's why they went with the gray, should be relatively easy to go over with all but the lightest paints as long as a good coat of primer is laid down.

I am looking forward to you some of you guys getting them and painting them body color so I can get an idea of how they look. Mabey by that time their will actually be a color match 3 step paint kit for the Spicy Orange Metallic :wtf:

I talked with the rep at NOPI and he said that they had been in DOT testing for awhile already. It is my understanding though that DOT has no set deadline to get them released to the public. I heard it could be as long as 6 monthes making it sometime next spring. We will just have to wait and see.

I like Togan.
He's not too proud to say what he thinks, then he doesn't get all ass-hurt when people let him know he's mistaken.
Good on ya, Togan! (thumb)

Someone needs to introduce those people to the idea of short shifters! (hand)

Anyone notice that the blue P5 has sedan headlights?

So what's the deal with these tail lights? That blue P5 was at HIN Seattle tonight. The NAPA guy said the lights were for sale, that I could order them from a NAPA store. But I can't find the lights on the web. APC's site doesn't list them for the P5. Any thoughts? Any one have these yet?

everytime this thread comes up i notice how ugly those cars are. however, the CF hood on the blue one kicks ass :D

That P5 is even worse in person. Those graphics. Barf. BUT I happen to like the tails, they're just weird enough.

The inside of the blue P5 is a little too much for me to handle. lol.

As far as the paint goes on the puzzle car I love it. its so unique. They even have peices of the puzzle on the car that can come off, exposing the metal underneith. I thought it was such a cool idea.
