500hp SRT-4!

Hey im not a drag guy so I dont really care about making crazy HP numbers but this is pretty amazing power comming outta that SRT-4. I probally would s*** in my pants knowing I have that much power....its just not my thang. But its nice work!

cause no one is spending the money the srt4 guys are...

if ppl built there motor, slapped a new turbo on and had some ems, there would be some mean proteges... the protege community doesn't seem to attract hardcore draggers. between you and Terry(spoolin_mp3) there aren't that many proteges breaking past 230whp...

i have all the the above. Look for my numbers in about 1.5 months ;)

yea, i'm dying to find out :) for awhile i thought you had ditched the build up and then i saw you posting about it again here and there. are you going with the GT28R or GT28RS?

keep hope alive! :D

i am going with a custom gt28rs unit. It has a larger compressor wheel than the original gt28rs and instead of flowing up to 350 hp like the regular gt28rs does, this modified one flows up to 450 hp.

It is comparable to the turbos used in the biturbo s4s im told.

I am very excited to get this stuff together to say the least.

ps i got the turbo for 1100 bucks plus a 60 dollars shipping charge directly from japan. If all goes as planned and perfworks gets my block done this week then i should be driving my baby in 2 weeks time. I have been out my car for almost 3 mos. and i am starting to get antsy.

has any of the people saying its just a straight line car ever see it on an autocross course in person? My guess is going to be no.

Yeh, but remember the SRT4 is doing it on a "stock internals" and the car dynoed 450hp with the stock ECU also. Keep in mind you'll have to spend a lot more on a MSP to get anywhere near that.

Edit: Actually, they haven't spent much...

-Turbochargers.com gt30/40 dual ball bearing turbo
-PSI FI 3bar map fuel computer/map clamp
-agp turbo manifold
-tial wastegate with multiple springs
-tial BOV
-agp FMIC
-muffler shop 3 inch turbo-back
-externaly dumping wastegate
-autometer fuel pressure reg - in tank walboro 255 lph, areomotive FPR, return line

Total:
$19,500 base car
$5,000.00 upgraded parts

Pretty cool, huh :D

im not trying to be a dick, and dont flame me for this, but i just wanna give my thoght about this, i havent ever said anything so here goes.

weither or not the neon is a pussy car, weither or not our car looks better, weither or not they are spending thousands more than us, it doenst matter.

the facts are the facts, people in srt4's are faster. i love my protege and wouldnt trade it for a neon anyday, i would rather have my car. but if you wanna go fast in a straight line for cheap buy a neon. then turn the wheel and fly off the road but thats ur choice.

Neons rule proteges in the autocross world also...

the people saying it sucks at turning, etc... have obviously not seen one on an autocross course...but let them keep thinking that their protege is the best thing evAr...lol

hasnt something happen to you? didnt you trade in your msp for a srt? i know i remember something along those lines?
anyhow...300 hp here i come..with stock block or no.

no, was considering it though pretty hardcore for awhile but would have lost too much on trade due to the outstanding trade in value the MSP holds. then the engine and turbo took a s*** on me. now the car is back at the dealership for a coolant leak, creaking suspension and 3-4 gear grind. oh i ******* hate this car:mad:

really...thats the one consistant complaint I hear about the SRT-4...really crappy turning radius. You need to buy a suspension upgrade for it to handel nicely....plus it comes with skinny tires stock...205s

I know someone mentioned it was $19,500 from srtforums.com but I thought 2004 SRT-4s are not $19,500 they are a bit more powerful then the 03s and have qualife LSD...so its atleast $21K or $20,995 from Dodge's website. But it varys depending on dealer...some dealers around here want $26K for a black SRT-4....WTF?

i just want 200 whp :( IMO i think 500whp is impressive from a stock block 4 cylinder. PERIOD!!

The mod list is not that big so that shows you what the potential is of that motor!!

yeah soon I will have my ported and polished head on the car with forged rod and ceramic coated lowered compression pistons. The valves are stainless and swirl polished, as well as being 1.5mm oversized custom Manley Performance Valves. With that and my 2.5" turbo back exhaust, my wagner kit should easily hit 200whp at 6psi, and with the mods, I can put it up to 18psi easy.
Lets see, 200whp + 12psi more boost... = ? (probably broken drive axles)

Just to make it safe, I'm gonna have to also invest in an AEM control system to run along side the EECV, and beefier drive axles, 550cc fuel injectors, and just at 6psi I'll need another fuel pump.

I think once you get the AEM computer, forged internals, turbo kit, and a fuel pump, our cars become about as tunable as any other good turbo car (DSM, SRT-4, GTIs) because it all just becomes, add more boost.... better injectors, bigger turbo, la la la, more horespower, yay.

I plan on making 300whp, I know JIC's drag protege has 4" turbo piping everywhere, and makes 400+ whp
