400whp Msp Build UP

Ive had to go into boost a few times while merging on to a highway, but not for maore than a couple seconds, plus im at fairly low boost around .7 bars.

But i think im going to give it a little drive right now since i got about 5hours to kill..

i wanna see pics of this car. .. this thread is crazy long

...and I have read every post. I am very interested in this car. I don't have money right now, but hopefully my $25,000 lawsuit with my previous employer will end soon... Not that I want to spend it all in one place... Or do I?

25k lawsuit= if u win MAYBE 10k. lawyers (jerkit)

nice pics though- that ignition system looks sick!

Well hopefully, it will go to court and I can charge them the lawyer fees as well. It is a California wage case, and it is very common to be able to charge legal fees on top of wages and penalties. Ideally I will walk away with $25k... We'll see...

Back to the 400 hp beast...

so what's the mileage you're getting ? i can't wait to hear and see your car when it's done, fast lane :D

err i mean what kind of mileage are you getting per tank. i'd be amazed if it was 800 miles/tank

like miles per gallon etc

Oh..sorry bout that.. im getting about the same as stock maybe a little better actually , but then again i really havent got into boost too much.

I read on page one that you got the tranny built. Who, how, how much, what did you have done? Lots of questions, but I need mine built yesterday.

No tranny rebuild yet...Im just going to have a new lsd, clutch flywheel , bearings and have the all the gears and such cryotreated..

I beleive its called 300below...In Edison NJ
Once i get a little more cash...im going to set up a date for Nick to take the car...probably not for a while its hard to be w/o my car during this semester im taking 15 credits..

Yes that too is my plan. Still debating on the lsd though. Where are you going for the cryo?

Save the money on the cryo... you aren't concerned about wear for the tranny... If you really want them improved send them out for a true heat treat and hardening, that will actually strengthen them.. cryo does NOT strengthen metal. (It does help with stress relief which can lead to slightly better resistance to FATIGUE, but does not alter the modulus of elasticity nor the ultimate tensile strength of the material)

And dimension stability is a non- issue because the gears have been worn already, are not brand new, and are not subject to all that massive of temperature changes and fluctuation.

More on heat treatment please.

Heat tempering, annealing etc... are all heat treatments... with special ovens they can take the gears to a very high temperature and then do a specific quench to it.. whether it be oil or water or so forth is determined by the heat process... that will result in actual structural differences to the metal. Because it is a "post process" it is usually not done by the manufacturer in a lot of cases because it is too expensive to do all the time for them etc. In some cases it is not possible as it will alter the part enough that it needs to be re-machined... but other processes maintain dimensional stability and require no re-machining. It will actually change the physical makeup of the part. additionally, lesser heat treatments can be done that will result in stress relief and so forth. There are also certain glass bead and shot peen actions that can be done that will stress relieve and compact the surface helping in fatigue and resistance to cracking (but again much like cryo does not actually make the part stronger as far as the material).

Either way... no one has blown a tranny up yet due to shear power. The race teams have, but who knows what kind of abuse they are really subject to...
