Who has this.

A buddy put it on his WRX, and went thru that last hard winter.. no marks

My problem is the fact that it's plastic (prone to turn yellow)
AND

They only cover the 1st 1/3 of the hood......

Ideas anyone?

Black sure does look poopy if it's all chipped up in the front!

i just noticed some chips in my hood after this winter. very small, right around the front edge of the hood.

bellspeed has it on his black mica...and i think he said it sucks...but i cant remember correcly.....dont wanna mis quote him.........: /

I have the whole package of 3m on mine MSP, love them. no rock chip whatsoever, and you can hardly tell it's here unless you look really really close.

Could you kindly post a front pic of your car...

I'm sure the rocks&salt don't hit the rear of your car....also for those who know where can this be purchased online? Thanks

Like I said in the original post,

my buddy has it on the front of his WRX.

I didn't notice it at all until he said something (of course it's yellow so it does hide things well)

He said that he got the entire front end done (only 1st 1/3 of the hood though and bumper) plus tinting for like 350.

I'm debating wheter or not to do this, but I don't want to mark up that beautiful black (which is why I want to do it).

My only main concern is the color of this "guard" after awhile when the sun cooks it. Plastics have been known to change color (just look at people's headlights after a few years.. they are not as "clear" as they 1st were).

Of course times have changed and these spaceage plastics have been around longer. This 3M rock protectant comes w/ a 10 year no fade warranty.... Hm....

:D

This stuff (both the 3M and Avery varieties) is specifically made not to yellow. Over a long period of time (5+ years) on a white car, you might notice some yellowing, but on just about any other color it should be virtually invisible.

I've been looking for someplace that does it in the PA/DE/MD area but have found nothing. Seems like it's very popular in Canada and the Pacific Northwest, but not around here.

here's the pics

Hello,
I believe you can get it from a graphics place. the ones that make the vinyl graphics. they get the sheets and feed it through a computer cutter. 3m provides the free software to make the cuts.

phantom, nice and clean car.
great pictures to show the 3M guard. I notice in the 1st picture that the 3m is not an entire 'wrap around' bumper guard, but simply a stick on type of guard. I thought they would wrap the whole bumper? no?

deepcover6,
a bit off topic, but the STi guage in your signature, is that really how the STi guages operate, prior to starting up?

Straying off topic even more, While I was being towed to the body shop today, I noticed the tow truck's gauges did that...I figured something was wrong with it!!

Anyone know any place that does it in the NE? Preferably Central Jersey? I guess i'll have to call around ...

Yea the STi's gauges do that on start up. Other than looking cool, I guess its to show you they work?

Sorry couldn't reply you earlier...didn't have broadband access...Stepson beat me to it but yeh, once you turn the key in the ignition the tachs do a full sweep to show you the massive potential of the car. :D
