3D Modelled Skyline

no, you misunderstood me...I agree they are renderings, everything is too smooth looking to be real. Basically its so "perfect" that it doesnt look real anymore.

Have you ever seen a Mazda speed catalog (real Mazdaspeed, not the US weak stuff)? Their cars look real perfect to. Like they set up the perfect studio with lights and everything, then they edit it a bit and waaaahlaaaa, an image you're not sure if it's real or not. :)

I think they'd have to be in physical form (the catalog) to get the full feel of them. There's a reason Mazdaspeed catalogs are over $20 :)

they're good renderings, not perfect but good. look at the material of the rear spoiler on the second picture, and the wheels on the first. that shows you that they're renderings. there's technology out to do better renderings than this :)

if you can get a blueprint of 3 different views of the car, doing a car like this isn't too bad, but it still takes a while. i read through a tutorial on how to do it in 3ds, definitely time consuming and takes skill to get right, but not super hard. this one came out pretty well though

Yeah you guys beat me too it but I just realized that is the car from 2F2F. I knew I saw a car with all those tags on it before. I think its a very nice model, and of course it has to be cause I bet that was the basis for all the digital effects in the movie.

Ahhh, very true. I never thought about that. :) Even though they did a horrible job of digital effects and realism in that movie.

Regardless, the owner of that car is the man.

still amazing though. VEry nice.

...........why can't anyone NOT put a jesus ugly ass spoiler on skylines??? Every one I see has a ugly ass spoiler.

because they come stock with a ugly ass spoiler...

it was produced in 3d max 6. regardless of what movie it was in, the modelling, texturing and lighting job is sick. the only mazdas i have ever found were of the rx-7. i'll post more soon.

Function over fashion maybe? :) I doubt that car ever saw track time though. haha

Yeah, they put the big huge wing on the Skyline b/c the stock wing/spoiler provides little downforce, unlike the huge CF ones that provide lots of downforce.

Ok, let me clarify something,

That skyline was done by Alex Baldasseroni a very respected CG artist. As far as you guys saying they are photos with rendered Rims that is not true, every picture is a rendered model. I have seen better from him though.
I am also a CG artist, not as good as Alex but getting there, I did some work on the upcoming movie Resident Evil 2, Dawn of the dead both shot in Toronto Ontario, Canada and Men with Brooms(Canadian Movie)

do u have a website or a porfolio showing your work? I would love 2 take a look at what you've done.(rockon)

IMO lighting is key for a cg image to look real. The skyline pics have phenomenal lighting and are therefore easily disputed for a photograph. However the pics posted on this page, the third one is very obviously rendered b/c it does not have the quality of lighting as in the skyline pics and the other pics. Take a look at all the cg movies out today, for instance Shrek, many of the scenes and backgrounds look real largely b/c of the quality of the lighting and textures.
