well I spent the better half of an afternoon haggling and what not to get the MZ5 we wanted. 2007 GT Whitewater pearl, only options are the moonroof shield, rear bumper guard, and a cargo net. The dealer and I did some scheming and presented it to my wife today on the showroom floor as an early Valentine's day present... she thought I was out shopping for diamonds yesterday... Pics will be coming, we just love this car and the WOW and DUH factor of our friends have been ever-so onpouring. We got a great deal on it based on what I can get in a 6hr radius. The dealer was way awesome, almost all the guys we worked with were ex-saturn guys so that is part of it I'm sure.

Wow... how exciting! First, congrats on the new car and the new little one (3 months to go for me). You got a pretty good price on that 5, IMO anyway. I paid $21k flat for my 5spd Touring, but I also got the DVD system and SIRIUS which tacked on at least $1,200. My oh my... I don't remember the last time I saw my Whitewater Pearl all glossed and shiny like that... sigh.

Enjoy and Zoom-Zoom! (thumb)

I had to leave town right after getting it, the wife keeps reporting in with raves and how gosh darn smart this car is, espec with a newborn. She mentioned that on the first 1/4 tank she's gone 120miles, and its purely in town driving, we don't see much interstate useage in Boise... we'll see how the first tank does... but I'm jazzed so far. Her only complaint is the dirt on her whitewater pearl seems very apparent.... she half wanted black and I told her about my black car experience and keeping it clean and swirl free. I do need to get the clear bra done.... isn't there a member here that makes em?

I just went over 22k in my 5 today and it's just over 9 months old!

I can't say enough that you made a wise purchase.

Congrats,

Matt

first tank all in town driving, not much hwy useage to speak of in Boise city driving.... got 25mpg!! We'll see if its repeatable.

congrats! Now go shop for those diamonds. LOL =)

I second that!

If you look at the picture, you can see that she has that "I thought I was getting diamonds, and all I got was a Mazda5." look. ;)

Congratulations, you will enjoy the car. I am still loving mine 15 mos later, and still do not see anything I would replace it with within its pricerange, or $5k more for that matter.

I love that color on the 5 and honestly it was my first color choice.

Welcome to the family, there is a lot of good information, and good people here as well.

Is that Team Mazda in NorCal?

Yes, I know what you mean, I have talked my wife into it a few times when we were supposed to wait. However, when it comes to having my Mazda's, I will gladly eat beans and rice, and make other sacrifices in order to have my daily dose of Zoom Zoom.

The 5 has been the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned, and I have serious thoughts of purchasing a 2nd one to modify, but I wonder what the neighbors will think? Oh well, when they see 3 in my driveway, then they can start worrying...

Keep Zooming!

actually Team Mazda in Caldwell Idaho... didn't know there were others... cool! Yeah I'm thinking bout gettin a used one in a few years for me and drop in a MS3 front clip.

well we just got the IPOD adapter put in and yeah it works, but I'm certainly not impressed by any means.... I'm thinking for the same money we shoulda got the tape player and an adapter... then control the IPOD directly... eh well.. we'll get used to it I spose.

That's what we did, and the Sony adapter works well (the Monster one didn't work at all). Plus we have have a zillion cassettes that we rarely listen to because we don't have a reliably working cassette player in our house, and we hadn't had a car with a cassette player in ten years. The dealer that put our cassette player in looked at us like we were from the moon, or at least a hundred years old, when we said we wanted one. It's been fun resurrecting the occasional old tape.
