3" Turbo Back Exhaust ??

subaruwrx - no there'll be no down-pipe for those who aren't going to the full turbo-back. Otherwise, it'd be 3"->2.25" at your stock cat-back. Not exactly ideal for performance.

soundbombing - yes the system is full 3", everypoint including the flanges. It's not being sized down to 2.5" anywhere.

ION... unless your system has a CARB eo number there is no way it would have passed at a ref station. The ref would have failed it on visual before the sniffer was even put in the pipe. Unless you are keeping the same number of Cats and all. That being said I have no doubts that the system is clean enough at the pipe I just want to help avoid confusion for CA owners.

tmht - yup, however the car we had tested @ a CARB station wasn't a Cali registered car, we just wanted to see if our cats would pass the sniff test. This was on the WRX.

Depending on how things go, we may just fab a "dummy" heat shield in front of the hi-flow cat we use such that it looks like 2 cats are in place. :)

Just out of curisosity how many resonators are you planning to use to control the sound levels, and are they going to play a major part in the performace aspects of the whole system.

MazdaspeedZOOM - we're only going to use 1 resonator @ most. We can adjust sound via packing material as well as internal louver design. All of our systems are made specific to car, and thus the muffler design is unique for the car to maximize performance.

Any news on the Turbo Back? I know you're busy with the FMIC but I'm more interested in the exhaust right now.

goonsquad - we're done the initial R&D portion of computer modelling and flow analysis of the various turbo discharge types. Prototype is being built starting thrusday, and if everything goes according to plan, we'll be jigging up the system for manufacturing next week. There'll be a pre-sale shorlty for the full turbo-back.

Best Regards,

Jack

How will the ION turbo-back differ from the magnus one besides the swap out cat? Is the magnus truly turbo-back, ie does it bolt right onto the turbo?

goonsquad - as pictured is the Magnus "turbo-back". It actually bolts on @ the 3 bolt flange after the cast-piece which is still connected to the turbo.

Our turbo-back, bolts right onto the turbo.
