When the politicians "do something about it" only makes it worst. We are here now in part because of politicians.

WE WILL BE FINE. WE ARE AMERICA.

Somehow these statements contradict one another...

and it's a shame so many Americans have that attitude.

I think the exact opposite about the economy.

I don't watch CNN, but I listen to Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Bernanke and his lies, etc. We're in for something you've not seen before. There simply is no way to avoid it unless we break free from the Fed Reserve. The only result of an interest rate on our money supply is enslaving debt.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again here:

Here's my prophecy, you can call me crazy if you want, but don't say I didn't warn ya -

The dollar will fall hard
The dollar will FAIL
The North American Union will be introduced and will cause America to join with Canada and Mexico as one. This will destroy our Constitution, and we'll make a new one (that will NOT be for the people, but for the Government.)
The Amero will be our new currency.

The economy is not in bad shape. Unemployment is low, inflation is low, but going up, more people own homes than ever before, interest rates are low as well. I can remember 12 percent inflation, 18 percent interest and 8 percent unemployment when Jimmy Carter was president. No mater how good we seem to have it people always think things are bad. If you watch CNN you would think the sky is falling and America is the worst nation on the planet.

I have a brother In Law that spent 25 years in the miltary and traveled all over the world. He says you really don't appreciate what you have until you travel to other countries and see how they live. We pay less for food, as a percent of our income, than any other peoples that have ever lived. This is why we are so fat. We are complaning about the price of fuel for our cars when some people around the world are wondering what they will eat tomorrow. Things are good people. You are alive, your belly is full and the sun still shines. Stop watching CNN, the sky is not falling. I'm going out for a 6 mile run now, the sky is blue the sun is shinning and it's 68 degrees. When I get back I'm going to clean up and go cruising in my 3. Damn, It's good to be alive.

I think you'd see a revolution of independent states much like what the confederates were fighting for during the civil war before we were ever to join with Canada and Mexico...plus Canada and Mexico probably wouldn't be willing just to lay down and say...okay U.S. here ya go. I actually wish that states would be more independent than they are these days...New Hampshire is one of the few states that doesn't like following the bandwagon...a few examples are no required auto insurance, no income tax, no sales tax...Sometimes I don't think States realize the kind of power they actually hold in terms of law making...anyway I digress back to the gas prices :)

Seems like macro effects from micro causes.

The dollar will stabalize, it may drop some but it will stabalize.
We will never be a NA union. Canada and US maybe but I doubt canada would want it.

Texas would seseed before a NA union was accepted as would many states, TX can just do it by vote and not one can say schitt.

I honestly think that we will look back in 100 years and thing nothing of this time other then that there were ups and downs and some of the idiologies were backwards. Maybe by then I will have even learned to spell.

This is so true. Think back to the 1970's oil crisis. This caused American muscle cars to go extinct. But after a decade things stabilized and the "power" cars started coming back, and now we see them all over the place. What came out of all this. Japanese cars soared way up due to there fuel economy and good design. We now have cars that have much better technology and MPG, and so on.

People were afraid the Russians would invade, and there would be nuclear war. The years before 2000 there was the Y2K scare, with nukes going loco and the whole world being taken over by computers. Money was supposed to be lost in the banks and the whole country left without power.

One more thing. The prices in Europe are so high due to there TAXES. A large amount (almost 2/3) of the price is various taxes. Since most of Europe is more Socialized then the US they need alot more money. Where do they get there money for health care, college, job copensation......? Many countries in Europe also have government contracts with TV and Radio stations that are payed by taxes.

Until I see everyone driving econo cars and taking public transportation and riding there bike to work, and when there are no more Ford F-250's and Hummer H3's being driven for groceries, I refuse to accept anyone saying that the US is in such horrible shape. And no one wants to see the day that we actually stop wasting resources (braindead).

I worked over in a shipyard in Northern Germany for about 3 month in 2005. It was crazy I'd say 90 percent of the workforce rode in on bikes

There is so much that plays into all of this... if you just research it yourself and stop buying into what you are told by the media.

The plan is contained in a "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" little noticed when President Bush and President Fox created it in March 2005:

In March 2005, the leaders of Canada, Mexico, and the United States adopted a Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), establishing ministerial-level working groups to address key security and economic issues facing North America and setting a short deadline for reporting progress back to their governments. President Bush described the significance of the SPP as putting forward a common commitment "to markets and democracy, freedom and trade, and mutual prosperity and security." The policy framework articulated by the three leaders is a significant commitment that will benefit from broad discussion and advice. The Task Force is pleased to provide specific advice on how the partnership can be pursued and realized.

To that end, the Task Force proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. We propose a community based on the principle affirmed in the March 2005 Joint Statement of the three leaders that "our security and prosperity are mutually dependent and complementary." Its boundaries will be defined by a common external tariff and an outer security perimeter within which the movement of people, products, and capital will be legal, orderly and safe. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America.

The three governments should commit themselves to the long-term goal of dramatically diminishing the need for the current intensity of the governments physical control of cross-border traffic, travel, and trade within North America. A long-term goal for a North American border action plan should be joint screening of travelers from third countries at their first point of entry into North America and the elimination of most controls over the temporary movement of these travelers within North America.

And more of the unknown....

On October 17, 2006, there was a public signing of the 'Military Commissions Act of 2006' which suspended habeas corpus allowing the president to declare you an 'enemy combatant' and end your rights to seek legal or judicial relief from unlawful imprisonment. Yes this includes you... not just any old 'terrorist.'

On the same day in a private oval office ceremony the president signed into law the 'John Warner National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2007' which essentially eliminates the protections of the Posse Comitatus Act and re-wrote the Insurrection Act. The NDAA will allow the president to declare a 'public emergency' and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to 'suppress public disorder'! --- lets see TX succeed and stop the president now.

There is more going on here than people want to see. Ignorance is bliss.

Your government, my government, is doing things to you thought only other countries did.

You do realize that manufacturing is already starting to shift to the US because of the favorable exchange rate, don't you? There may be a shift in the balance of service and manufacturing industries, but the dollar will stabilize.

To all those "the glass is half empty" folks-
Quit crying, if you dont have a job, MOVE to where the work is.

I moved half way round the world and it didnt kill me. There is more work here in Texas and Louisiana than we can handle, i have never had a better job or made so much $ an hour, everyone here will tell you the same thing and it is all because of the price of oil and the oil companies spending.
Times are good, cost of living here is ridiculously cheap, $135k for a new nice 2000sq' 2 car garage home.

We are about to have a baby, wifey is going to quit her job and I’m not worried one little iota. There is no recession here and I don’t mind paying $4 per gallon as long as I have work.

In the UK it is $6 a gallon but 90% of that is tax which goes to pay for the upkeep of roads etc. We have very good roads and very few toll roads, it is taxed so high because it is a small over populated country and the government is trying to discourage people driving. Public transportation is excellent and using it is not considered to be below middle class white folk like it seems to be here (Texas anyway).

Whats the difference between a recession and a depression?
A recession is where you neighbour is out of work,
A depression is when you are out of work.

3. If you have a MS3 or CX7 and have a problem with gas prices, go slap yourself, you could have bought a car with more then twcie the MPG you get and on a lower octane. I for one have a V8 tundra so I have to laugh histericly at myself.

I'm buying an MS3 because it gets way better gas mileage than what i'm currently driving, and I still get to maintain and enjoy my hobby. Ultimately, I can't just drive a basic car. Nor am I going to give up the idea of a vehicle that takes premium. It's only a couple cents per tank.

You guys could all completely have it worse. My dad drives an 02 Suburban and it almost costs him like $90 a tank at $3 a gallon. Just think what he's gonna be stuck in after $4 arrives. Same with me and my SS trailblazer. 12 city / 16 hwy. I've been in deep s*** as it is. Glad to be out of it.

I will ask only once nicely that you do not insult me or any other members by assuming you know how I get my information or how I come to my conclusions and opinions.

The simple fact here is that you have no clue. Such statements are exactly why flame threads always develope while poepl are attemption to hold a civic discussion.

Not true in this case, my fellow audio enthusiast friend:

The foundation for what I've stated is already in place in Congress. By usurping the order of the Constitution, laws have already passed that will allow the NAU to exist, the Amero to exist, etc. Long ago we as a Nation handed over the control of our destiny to corporations and special interest groups, namely the CFR and their nefarious plans for globalisation. The Russian standoff between U.S. and America was engineered to be that way, financed on both sides by international bankers, as was WWI and WWII. The CFR, unless stopped, will succeed in convincing the entire public that the NAU is good, the Amero is good, and that we are all safer and happier with these things. The NAFTA superhighway is already under planning and construction, and land will be taken away from Texans as well as many other people via Imminent Domain, an unfair law passed in Congress many years ago.

Combine this horrible set of events (which the CFR-controlled media will at first oppose to make it look like they are a news group for the People, then over time will approve and support 100%) with what the Federal Reserve is doing to our money supply, and it won't be long before we are a slim thread of what we used to be...a strong, independent, and unique country. UNLESS we intervene aggressively and root out all traces of these CFR and special interest group ties from our government, we are in for a ride. Right now, under a few harmlessly named Directives and Acts already passed through Congress, signed by the Pres and effective immediately we have the HSPD 51 (the Presidential total control dictatorship Act), the Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act (which is nothing but a governmental shutdown on a Constitutional Right to overthrow the Government if it is corrupt), and of course the Wiretap Act and the Patriot Act. The only way things like these pass is with a corrupt Congress and Executive branch...the CFR is their biggest lobbyist with ties to almost every Congress official and certainly the Pres and Vice Pres. Hell, the Vice pres used to be the chairman for the CFR! People just don't know until it is too late I'm afraid.

Seems like macro effects from micro causes.

This is five pages of people complaining because they are too lazy to shop around. I'm paying 3.15 a gallon for 93octane. Oh, and, uh...

Why did you buy a turbocharged "performance" car if you are pissed or worried about the cost of gas? Stop crying and go buy a Prius.

Just so you know gas price does vary by region.

Cheapest in my area is 3.24 and that is shopping around. Highest is 3.59

When anyone makes an argument counter to what Ron Paul says, notice how they are instantly media sheep and follow the crowd and don't know what they are talking about and need to open their eyes?

Hmmm.

I find it incredibly amusing that people would buy a car that makes 263 HP / 280 Torque, and then complain about the gas mileage. Were you seriously expecting 28+ MPG?

I am sorry, but 91-93 octane gas prices have been in the $3-$4 dollar range for years now. (Long before the MS3 came out!) It wasn't like you wouldn't have known that when you got your MS3.

Most of the time, cars that require higher octane are more expensive than your average grocery getter, so IMO if you can afford a performance car (or a performance version of a grocery getter), then don't b**** about gas prices. I agree it sucks, but if it's got anyone in a serious pinch then he / she should change travel habits or consider downgrading.
