$25 Free and Legit?

Hey guys,
I dont know if you've seen this on TV or maybe on the web yet, or if this is a repost.

www.ingdirect.com

Ok, heres the deal its an online savings account through an online only bank. They have no physical locations so they save tons of money just in overhead. They also use email statements instead of paper ones to save money, but they return these saving to you by giving incredible interest rates (relatively speaking). I signed up when they offered 2.2% and im now at 2.25%, its not much but its way better then the .4% i was making at my local bank. Not to mention these guys are also FDIC insured. Its legit.

Now what you want to hear about.....$25 free, right? As a member you can refer up to like 20 friends and they get $25 in there account when they sign up and I get $10.

I thought I'd throw this out there to spread the word an maybe make a lil in my account on the side. So, if you want to check out the site and see what you think. If you want to do send me a PM or post or email me chowhoundb@aol.com and I'll send you a referral link and you get 25 and ill make 10 + 2.25% interest compounded monthly.

Thanks guys!
Bob

Ing is pretty much legit or least they make their presence known. They have commericals all the time on TV.
Its the ones where someone is sitting on a park bench with just the ING showing and people keep asking about it.

Edit:And I just looked at my system (work at a online banking support company for credit unions) And we have over 2,000 members sending funds to ING.

i know where their building is in hartford, i could go burn it down if they caused problems :) how long is this offer good for? i've been looking to get a new bank but all of the fees of most banks suck so i've just been sticking with my old credit union. i'll be too busy for the next 2 weeks or so to switch though

chowhoundmsp, send me the referral link via pm. I'll sign up.
we should get a chain started on this, kinda like the one they were trying to do for the "free plasma tv" a while back. except this one will actually work.

I dont think the offer ends, or atleast anytime soon.

Straight from their site:
Rules of the game: $10 Thank You bonus is deposited at time of new account opening, but is unavailable for withdrawal for 30 days. The person you refer will have 30 days to use the special referral link in the email to open an Orange Savings Account before it expires. $25 account opening bonus only available for new accounts with a new Customer as the primary owner.

You would still have to keep one account open with your regular bank to be linked to the ing for deposits and withdrawls, but you could keep most of your money in the ing to get the interest and have the linked account be a checking or something with maybe a few hundred in it. Then transfer whenever you need. Thats what i do.

did some research:

http://www2.fdic.gov/structur/search/isinsured.asp?CERT=35489&INSTINPUT=null&STATE=&CITYINPUT=

this link is to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s website
it shows that the bank is indeed insured, where it is (DE) and how long they've been insured (since Aug 2000) If this bank goes under like some people are afraid of, your $$ will be safe cause of the FDIC (up to the $100,000 limit, of course.

Oh, and chowhoundMSP, you'll have an email request shortly.
*edit - email sent
