205/50-16 on stock P5, who installs?

Hello everyone,

Since Ive read on some other posts that 205/50-16 will fit fine on a stock P5 wheel, I think thats what I will go with when it comes time for new tires in short order. Much more selection, and cheaper prices in that size.

My question is... Has anyone had any problems getting installers to install the overwidth tires... as in refusing to install them because they are not stock size?

I ask because a while back when getting tires for another car, the shop would not sell me wider tires than normal because of "liability" issues with non-standard tires.

Thanks for any help guys

A 6" wide rim is usually within the rated sizes for a 205/50-16 tire so you shouldn't have any problems.

Just to let you guys know. I went to order some pirelli supersports in the 205 width at a Tires Plus store in town.

After they found out they were not stock size, I got the same damn line I was expecting: "we wont install anything other than what the manufacturer of the car recommends, you know, liability and all..."

I went to a Firestone shop for a quote on the tires, and they seemed hesitant to install anything other than stock. We'll see if I get the same line when I go there to buy the tires.

Doesn't that figure...

yeah figures man, how about they just take our money like they r supposed to and let us deal with the our cars or whatever.
