2022-2023 Mazda CX-9 Reliability

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if the 2022-2023 Mazda CX-9 have any of the issues of the 2016-2020 Engine Coolant leak or the 2021 Valve Stem Replacement problems. I was looking into buying a CX-9, most preferably one that won't have too many problems and the 2022-2023 seems to be the one that won't have potential problems. I was looking into buying either a CX-9 or CX-90, what do you guys think?

Thank you !

The CX9 is extremely reliable, according to many reviews from numerous auto industry sources. The problems you mentioned with certain years are few and far between. If you buy a used CPO model like we did, you get a 7 year 100k powertrain warranty. We bought our 2020 Signature three years ago with 1700 miles on it. now have 40k and have had zero issues. One of the best vehicles we have owned....including several Toyotas. The CX9 is for drivers who appreciate "driving". Toyota suvs are for a different type driver. I would not hesitate to recommend a used 2020-2023 model depending on your budget. Just confirm its maintenance/repair history and get the CPO for peace of mind.
I'd wait at least another year before considering a CX90 considering the number reported "bugs", typical of any new model and the substantial higher cost to get the same options.

Vavle stem issue is not a problem for any models outside of that 2021 production run and thanks to a lawsuit win mazda is now fixing the problem under a special warranty.

It is still a bit early but i have not seen 2022 reported to have cracked heads yet on this forum. Mazda is supposed to have improved the design to prevent it, but that issue takes a few years and mileage before it present itselves.

What I can say is there was a point in this forum where there would be a new case per week approximately, and it has been a lot more quiet recently on the cracked head posts, so it seems like the frequency of cases (at least reported here) as started reducing.
