Had our engine replaced under warranty earlier this year (loss of compression in Cyl 3; no additional info provided as to why). Since the replacement, I've noticed 2 issues:
1) Completely subjective, but overall feels like it's making less power/accelerating more sluggishly (but in general drives fine getting around town).
2) At highway speeds (>55 mph) when accelerating (or maintaining speed uphill), RPM 2,500-3,000, will start sounding like the engine is racing (or whooshing? possible fan or turbo sound?) much higher than I would expect/had previously experienced for the given RPM. Transmission will eventually upshift and drastically drop revs and power, and the shift often comes with a lurch. The more aggressive the acceleration, the more drastic the issue; I was accelerating uphill in a 70 mph zone and "hit a wall" where the transmission repeatedly tried to upshift, lurched, downshifted back, multiple times over a period of a few seconds until I let off the gas. Also a similar occurrence when I went to pass (from 40 mph in a 55 mph zone) with what should have been plenty of space but kept hitting the wall again and could not get up to speed in time to feel comfortable making the pass.
Obviously will be discussing with the dealership, but any thoughts on what could be causing this? Doesn't seem to be fuel related (top tier 87 and 91/93, multiple tanks of one before switching to the other).
