2020 Mazda CX-5 Making Weird Sounds Upon Acceleration

No weird noise in park.

35-40mph car will be in 5th gear. Shift to 6th happens around 50mph.

The noise is specifically coming from the left side, right in front of drivers seat area.

Only 25,000 miles, shouldn't be the transmission or torque converter, but that's what the symptoms are pointing to. It may be the bad bearing issue that @sinistriel@ has talked about? Hopefully it's not the clutches already. The mileage seems too low to have that issue.

I would go ahead with your plan and while there, ask if you can test drive another CX-5 and have a tech come along for the ride. You should be able to recreate the same conditions and see/hear the difference.

My car, 2020 model, shifts to 6th at 44-46 mph on the dot. Sometimes shifts at 43-44 mph only if I am driving on an incline, downward, but rarely. 44-46 mph is the norm. Manual mode driving, though.

Just the noise. And the lag with accelerating from one

If I keep the pedal in same spot and stop it from accelerating higher, pretty sure the sound stays. Unsure what you mean by shift manually (it's automatic transmission). And sometimes, it'll get "stuck" switching to a higher speed (where the RPMs keep going up, but it's not "catching", so it feels like it's straining (letting my foot completely off the gas & letting the RPMs drop back down to 1.5, then retrying & it'll catch). The noise is specifically coming from the left side, right in front of drivers seat area.
I may take it back to MY dealership (where I've bought last 4 cars from....I originally took it to them, but they couldn't replicate sound & I didn't have the videos yet, & they told me to take it to the Mazda Russ Darrow, as they obviously have more expertise with Mazda's specifically).

Ok. The lag you speak of makes me think torque converter.

What I mean by shifting manually is using the shift lever, (or paddles on the steering wheel if equipped) and start out in 1st, manually shifting each gear. Put in Drive. On the shifter you’ll see +M- just to the left of “D”. Pull shifter to the left and then drive away, pulling the shifter back to shift higher, forward to shift lower. Return shifter to the right to operate normally.

As for your dealer, if they don’t have the ability to troubleshoot, ask them to recommend an independent shop to help find the issue.

You're right, I mixed it up with the Miata. That will kick you back to 5th if you drop to 48mph.
