Hi,
This is my first post. I have a 2018 CX-5, non-turbo. This is a certified pre-owned (CPO) car and that warranty expires June 30, 2025. In December 2024, with 40,000 miles on it, the cylinder head cracked and dumped oil all over the place. On January 13, 2025, the Mazda dealer replaced the cylinder head, (without engine valve R&R), under the CPO warranty. Now at 42,500 miles, all seems good.
My concern is that the replacement cylinder head design has not been updated and it's the same design they put on the cars in 2018. Since the CPO warranty expires shortly, I am concerned that if the cylinder head replacement hasn't been updated, I'm just looking at another replacement within the next 10,000 to 40,000 miles and this time, the warranty won't be in force.
Does anyone know if the new cylinder heads for these cars have been update so this problem won't surface again?
Thanks!
