There were two options. One used an app, but it would no longer work because it used 2G cellular which has been shut down by the carriers. When that happened,Mazda offered original owners a rebate or some money towards installation of a aftermarket remote start. If the car had that one, there would be a pair of antenna stickers on the upper passenger side windshield. The other option was a remote start with a separate fob from the key fob. Mine has that. The range is not very good. Basically have to have line of sight within a couple hundred feet. (They may have offered to install that one for owners who originally had the cellular one, I can’t remember for sure.). I don’t know if the factory one with the fob is still available or if a dealer would install it for you or not. If you look through these forums, though, I’m pretty sure there are multiple threads about people having aftermarket remote starts installed. I don’t think the information about there not being aftermarket remote start for Mazda is correct.
