Night-light is likely driven at a VERY VERY LOW percentage of what that LED can handle. I hope you live forever man, but that LED will honestly give you a run for it, if you're over 30 right now.

No, I wouldn't. I simply don't like the headlights on all the time even though it already has LED Signature DRLs! After all I have a 2016, not a 2017. But with Mazda's hit-and-miss reliability you'll never know how long these LEDs would last ⋯

I had a CFL just a couple of months ago blow up in the socket and hit me in the face with glass all the way across the room. Then it smoked and melted in the socket. It made a loud boom and I want to laugh because the cat went haywire and scrammed when it blew, but it could've taken my eye out. I've had another one smoke and melt since then, but luckily it didn't blow up...

I could smell mine, which is was alerted me. Had to use fireplace leather gloves to remove it from the socket. After that, every single one I had in the house went straight into the trashcan outside... recycling (proper disposal) be damned.
Then I went out and got about 10+ years worth of incandescents.

I know you didn't ask me, but I test drove:
2016 - Audi A4
2016 - Cadillac ATS
2016 - Infinity Q50
2017 - Acura TLX
Then this. I originally started with the 2016 mazda 6, but all of the reviewers wouldn't shut up about how slow it is so I never test drove it. I wasn't even looking for this car, it somehow found me at a random Mazda test drive event while I was out having lunch at the Americana in Glendale. On paper this car is awful compared to anything else. But like MT said, this car excels at the intangibles. I was blown away how the cabin of this car felt as nice as all of the other cars I test drove, and it was definitely quieter than the infinity. Or you can listen to the guys who hate this car for no real reason (psst, there's lots).

I'm currently considering the CX-5, Forester, CR-V, and maybe the RAV4. So a little down market from what you were looking at.
The CX-5 tops my list because of the HUD, and tow rating. The Subaru is probably second due to the brand following up here in Maine.
Ultimately, for me it's really going to come down to comfort and the intangibles you talk about. A quiet, comfortable ride, comfortable seats for myself and my wife, and a vehicle that "feels" right on the road will end up being more important than anything else. Though the CX-5 is about the bottom of what I want in terms of fuel efficiency.
I've test sat in a CR-V, and did not like the seat -it was too stiff under my thighs, even with the front adjusted all the way down. I've test driven a 2016 CX-5 Sport, but have yet to have even seat time in a 2017. Luckily, I'm in no rush. For the moment I get to read reviews and the opinions of others like you.

Take as long as you can. Seems like the comfortability of the seat is very important to you, as well as personal "feel." Just spend lots of time in each one.
I own a Gen 1 CX-5 and even I don't understand the "hate" towards the new 2017 CX-5. It is laughable honestly. I don't like that the 2017 CX-5 is a little slower on the performance side compared to the 2016 model. I also don't like the 2017 GT wheels. However I have no hate whatsoever for the 2017 model. In fact, if I could trade for one without any financial consequences, I would do so even if it doesn't have the diesel engine. While I am disappointed the new model is a little slower than the 2016 model, I think the new features it offers far outweighs the negatives.
And I hope you realize that your CX-5 has the same engine as the mazda6, and is also heavier...

I actually didn't notice that much of a difference when I test drove the CX-5 compared to my Mazda6. If anything the gearbox in the CX-5 is more responsive that the one in my Mazda6 (thanks to Mazda's tuning).

Hit and miss reliability? Mazda's have a reputation here in Oz for good reliability. I wouldn't expect Mazda LED's to be any different.

And if you drive the 17 CX-5, it does not feel any slower, in fact it feels faster than my 14 CX-5.

I had a friend in highschool. Has a 68 camaro. Fully built. Would spin the tires for days. Loud. Smoky. Also ran 15s at under 100mph at the strip. "Feels fast" and "is fast" is a matter of facts, not perception, and ultimately, "feels fast" is the civic owner with a manual compared to the guy with an automatic mustang gt. I loved hearing the civic owner talk smack until he lost by half a dozen buslengths. I'm more about reality than feels, basically. I'd rather have a faster vehicle than to just think I did.
I bet the 2017 "feels" safer, too, with less nvh....but I'll take the reality of more safety over the perception.

All LED comes from China pretty much. It's truly the one agnostic part in this world, it seems. Everyone buys the same, although soldering and wiring of the led die does of course matter a ton and differ by who buys and installs it.
