2016 CX-5 Audio upgrade thread

I heard the D pillar speakers were a lot of work to get to. How was it so easy?

It wasn't bad. Remove a screw, or 3 and pop loose the snap retainers. the trim with flex out enough to get to the speakers and R&R them. I will recommend using harness adapters so you aren't fussing around trying to cut and replace the connectors. I used these:
Newark is essentially a wholesaler and the price reflects that.

I upgraded the left and right dash speaker to the reference 3032cfx and that improved the sound tremendously. The highs were much clearer and have more details. I then upgraded the center dash speaker to the reference 3032 as well, but the overall sound was too bright. I think the OEM center dash speaker with two left and right reference 3032 sounded better than three 3032s. I was thinking of buying a Kappa perfect 300 for the center dash but the price is quite high for a pair. I then bought and installed a Dayton RS100-4, which is much cheaper then the Kappa 300, and the sound is amazing now. The Dayton filled in the mid range and the overall sound is fuller with tighter base.
