2016 Coil Spring Question

2016 CX-5
I have a 2016 CX-5 GT AWD and was wondering if anyone had already lowered one of theirs using coil springs. I am looking at using H&R springs, but they only list fitment through the 2015 model year. I did contact H&R and they have not confirmed fitment for the 2016 model. I have also read that there were suspension upgrades done to the 2016 model but can't find exactly what has been changed. Has anyone here lowered their 2016 cx-5 with success and what did you use?

Thanks,

There are plenty of forum members who have lowered earlier model CX-5s on H&R, Cork Sport or Eibach springs (although Eibachs are not imported to the US). As for 2016s, I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone will weigh in soon if they have. Do a search and you'll find all kinds of discussion on this topic. The main issue with lowering the CX-5 has been that there is no way to correct the somewhat excessive negative camber which results (particularly at the rear) from such a modification. However, that said, if you can deal with a little bit of inside tire wear (how much will depend to a large extent on which spring you use and the resultant drop) and a bit stiffer ride, then the payoff of getting the vehicle down on its suspension is worth it, both in terms of appearance and handling. IMHO.

thanks, I have read several of the topics on lowering them just want to make sure the 2016 is the same.

That's a prudent thing to do, although I suspect if Mazda did anything to the suspension on the 2016, it probably involves shock damping or different bushing material.

Just bought the same and would like an answer as well... plus spacer widths to make tires more flush (looks like back may take more than front)?

Next month hardrace should be releasing camber arms for the cx5. I'll keep you all updated as I will be getting a set before I put my coilovers on. Cant say that I've had excessive tire wear after over 70k of driving on h&rs ( not oem wheels/tires though). I just bought new tires as my current have about 45k or more on them and are getting into the "yellow".

Just bumping this up... I noticed the Aussie guy bought some Eibachs for his 2016. I wonder if they were the same as the previous year. I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on the 2015 H&Rs for my '16. Looking at tirerack, should I get those camber bolts for the front too?
Basically keep checking the Hardracing site and as soon as they come out with the rear camber arm I'm moving forward.
