2016.5 CX-5 EPB question

Hi all. New here.

Own a 2016.5 cx5 with a 2.5 since new

I'm on my 2 nd set of rear callipers..... and I truly hate that epb stuff.

Is there a way to fit regular callipers on there, w/o the epb? I know it will code but the darn thing never worked right in the first place.

Thanx

You have a 2016.5 CX-5 and if your rear calipers with EPB from factory were made after 9/7/2016 and they were the revised version. If you’d replaced them twice most likely you’ve already had revised calipers they shouldn’t have dragging issues. Not sure why you need to replace them twice? The first time could be the dragging issue, but what happened for the second replacement? How many miles does your CX-5 have? Did someone screwed up the rear brake replacement job without using the EPB Maintenance Mode and turned the caliper piston?

I don’t believe it’s feasible to get rid off EPB from your CX-5. How are you going to have a parking brake? Besides, most people whose car has EPB don’t have problems to use it, especially with revised calipers after 9/7/2016 date code.

Who replaced your calipers, and were they replaced with a revised edition?

Ya, a little history on why they were replaced would be good.
Pure speculation, but the work was probably done incorrectly by third party shops, and the OP got stuck with the bills. Hope I'm wrong.

Damn. I have a 16 purchased in 15 and never had a problem with rear calipers or EPB.

I guess glad I have the simplicity/reliability of all mechanical EPB with my ’15

Perhaps I haven’t seen al the advantages… early on it just seemed like a way to increase console space in the interior
