2014 Mazda6 Touring
I have had my 2014 Mazda6 Touring with Tech package for 2 weeks now. I owned a 2004 Mazda6 but traded it in for a CX-7 because of transmission issues they couldn't fix. The car would speed up when you took your foot off the gas and I went through brakes within 28,000 miles. Had my 2007 CX-7 for 6 years 49,800 miles (never needed brakes) and was hoping to keep it for a while without any of the issues everyone else was having with that year. Unfortunately I started having issues with the turbo charger and the passenger airbag safety system went out. So decided to trade in and buy a new car. Test drove the CX-5 thinking it was going to be similar to the CX-7 but when I took the 2014 Mazda6 GT out for a test drive I was sold! I ended up getting the Soul Red but instead of the GT I went with the Touring with the Tech package. I always had the GTs before and really didn't need all the bells and whistles. I did add the remote engine start but am very disappointed as it doesn't start the vehicle from very far away and it seems you have to have a straight line of sight without any obstructions in order for it to work. Then when you get to the car and open the trunk or doors the engine turns off and you have to start it again. Not sure it was worth the extra money. I had an after market one on my CX-7 and it would start from just about anywhere and of course with a key ignition it would stay started after you opened the doors. With the hot summers in Arizona it is nice to cool down the car but not if you can't start the car until you are practically on top of it. Other than that, I am really loving my new Mazda6 and having fun driving a car again! Thanks for having this forum as I have relied on it in the past and will in the future. I have added some photos of my new car.

I have had my Touring 6 with Tech package for just over two weeks now....I am really happy with this vehicle, it does so many things well.....i traded in my 2009 mazda5 touring and they paid it off and gave me a decent trade in allowance, plus the $1000 loyalty from Mazda....really didn't think i was ready to deal, just wanted to test drive....my mazda 5 was in excellent condition with 63,000 miles....just had been chomping at the bit over the 6 for awhile and knew the 5 was at a perfect age to trade..the 6 also came equipped with the fancey door sills, rear bumper guard, rear spoiler, blind spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert and the dreaded mag locks(still have a bag of them from when i bought the 5). Only option i am really wanting to buy is the foglights which do not come with the touring 6, but did with the touring 5...hmmmmm....i will do that in a month or so....car is liquid silver with black interior...ZOOM ZOOM!

Congrats on your new purchase azflyin! I live in Chandler and got mine a couple weeks ago, a white touring with tech package. Gotten a lot of looks and compliments, and I haven't seen too many other 2014 6's around here, only a couple.

Thanks...I have only seen 2 6s around the valley in the past week. I get a lot of looks as well and I am loving the car. So fun to drive. Still getting used to all the technology though.

Yeah me too. My last car was a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. So much has changed tech-wise since then. How is the gas mileage you are getting around here? I drove the first couple weeks in manual mode, driving aggressively. Last week I took the car to LA and back; my mpg for the trip was about 41. I'm averaging about 31 right now for the duration of my ownership (which includes a lot of sitting in the car with the A/C on which drains the average in the driver's console).

Definitely found that the best investment I made for this car was a fitted sun shade though. Has worked masterfully in this heat.

I am getting 28mpg in town. Don't know about highway yet as I haven't been on a road trip. Going to Tucson next weekend so I should have some highway mileage then. I have the sun shade too. Haven't had to use it yet as the car is always in the garage or a parking garage. I did get the net and rubber mat for the trunk. I am glad I did.

Drove from Phoenix to flagstaff ad got 32mpg and flagstaff back to phoenix was 42mpg. Right now I drive 20% highway on the 101 and 202 and 10 and 80% of the time in the city. I get around 33mpg normal driving. Love this car and love it in phoenix. Bad thing AC has been on since I got the car since it is 102 ever day.

I think we have every Phoenix 2014 M6 driver on these forums, hehe. :)

I got the rubber mat for the trunk and the rubber floor mats as well. Fit like a glove and makes it so easy to clean. And I too wish I didn't have to abuse this car's A/C. I'm new to the area, so I didn't know better... I tried opening the windows and sunroof on I-10 for a stretch, and the dust that came inside was noticeable. So back to the A/C it was.

Joining this thread w/ my new very Red.
Bought in Oct and just over 1k miles in a month - very happy w/ the 6. Not new to Mazda's as I also have a Miata with many mods courtesy of miata.net forum. Just did my first mod of co-ax dash speakers and pleased w/ the result - pics and description in the audio section.
MPG is very good - 40 mi trip on rural 2-lane 55 limit, but going 60 due to lots of deer have yielded 40+ . Also have debadged the "mazda 6" from the rear and a different front plate mounting than stock.
Will be interested to see how stock AS do in snow which will be soon.
Miata already has it's Michelin Xi2's on as I also drive it in winter - fun to rooster-tail w/ it - very well balanced.
