2014 CX-5 AWD Bad noises and all four wheels are locked up!

My daughter was driving her '14 CX5 home on the freeway and it felt like there wasn't any power to the wheels. There was an off ramp right in front of her so she pulled off and coasted to a stop. Once it stopped it would not move, all 4 wheels locked up. If the transfer case grenades would this happen? Trying to help her from spending $7000 on a rebuilt transmission.

Any dashboard lights? Any ODB2 codes?

Sounds like "limp" mode, which IIRC is the car's special performance maps that restricts power until the car can be safely stopped to avoid further powertrain damage. After which, the dealer can eval for what the underlying problem(s) is(are).

Engine runs fine, no warning lights came on or are on now. As I said all 4 wheels are locked up and will not move.

Sounds like the brakes could have seized up to me. No power to the wheels could feel the same as if you were trying to accelerate with your foot on the brake. You said the car starts up fine, so I assume the brake pedal feels the same? Was/is she able to shift into Park/Drive/Reverse with no issues?

Check for leaks, and maybe check the brake fluid reservoir under the hood.

What are these "bad noises" being referenced? Are there any when in Drive or Reverse and gas is applied. Put it under load. Can you feel like power is applied and it wants to move but the brakes are locked or is it no feeling of car trying to drive through locked brakes, meaning no power to wheels. Any oil dripping from underneath.
