Went to change headlight bulb on my 2012 m2 touring, but found the set up different than what I found in the owners manual and online...

There is no connector plug between the bulb and the wiring. Wiring is attached directly to the bulb. There is nowhere to simply unplug the bulb from the car. Can't replace bulb. Any help or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

If you are trying to change the main bulb, you have to pull ludicrously hard to get the wiring plug off of the back of the main bulb (the first time you change bulbs). After that comes off, then you can remove the weather seal / dust cap, and then get to the bulb retaining clip. You'll see the back of the bulb right there. When I changed mine, I had to pull the wiring harness plug so f*cking hard that it turned the dust cap nearly inside out, undid the retaining clip and somehow STILL the f*cking bulb was still not coming free from the wiring harness plug. This might be your main problem. You have to pull really hard.

Figured it out...just bought the car this week (certified pre owned). Apparently the previous owner had put in custom blue lights so everything was wired funny. Decided to take them out and just replace with regular headlight bulb on both sides

Thank you for the help

It must have had an HID system installed. Those do have wires running directly to the bulb seat. Glad you figured it out!
