2008 White Mazda 3 -- little superficial rust spots

Hey guys, as the title says, it's for a 2008 White Mazda 3 GT.

My Gf bought it in February of last year. At some point in the summer washing her car we noticed little rust like spots on her paint. We took it to a body shop and had them do a light compound to get rid of them, no luck.

Went to the dealer and had them take a look at it, and they said sometimes when they're delivered by train, some of the brake dust flies onto the paint and leaves these rust like spot. He told us he would do an acid wash and that should take care of things. So the acid wash was done, a lot of them were gone, but some were left and the dealer said another acid wash and it would ruin the paint on the car!

We left it at that. 3-4 months later, after winter, as i was putting the tires back on the car, i noticed a LOT of these little rust spots. This isn't normal for a car that is barely a year old dammit.

What can i do to correct this? Call Mazda Canada? Get another acid wash?

Im totally clueless as to what i should do now? I didn't buy a 30k$+ car in white for all these spots to show up on it.

Help!

By the Way, it ain't dusk brakes from the train... it's from YOUR brakes. Every white car has this problem. To prevent the problem, wax your car as often as possible once you will have removed then all. To do so, take a clay bar and do you entire car with it, then don't forget the wax :D. Hope this will help you.

BTW: I have a Pearl White Mazda 5 and i have the same problem. And i'm working in a bodyshop! :D

The original marks were probably rail dust, that is common. However venom is correct, those marks will continue showing up and get harder and harder to remove. Silver Ecstasy has a CWP MS3 and has them really bad. he is notorious for not washing his car for months on end though in the winter, thus the problem. Again, clay barring will do it (a lot of elbow grease and time) and then Wax, wax and wax again. Wash your car as frequently as possible and you should avoid it being this bad in the future.

And rust from dusk brake is no big deal. Every car on the planet has this trouble, but with a white car you can see it lol.

Its very frustrating to say the least.

Went to Mazda today, they're gonna do an acid wash and then they're gonna apply a good coat of wax.

Hopefully that fixes things, then i'll make sure to be more vigilant in keeping the car waxed.

and then when you get it back from mazda, do ANOTHER good coat of wax yourself

LOL thanks for putting me on blast!

For the record, I have gotten these orange, rust looking marks in my paint in almost every vehicle I've had. I don't know exactly what it is, but when I had access to a driveway and hose everyday, i'd wash my car every other day and they'd still be in there.

Now that I don't live at home and don't wash my car by hand every other day, I have to go longer between washes.

Regardless, what i've noticed is being the car is much lower than the cars i've owned, it collects a s*** ton of orange marks on the front of the rocker panels and along the entire bumper and hatch.

CLAYBAR, that's all it takes. A ton of patience and elbow grease, and you will remove those pesky bastards from your paint.

I took most of them off yesterday with a claybar. That is all you needed man. Even the scratch X remover would have done the trick.

Acid wash...? Yikes.

And they are more like oxidation spots. I had a ton on my hood and top of spoiler and trunk. The claybar, left my car smoother than a baby's ass.

I see

i have a good question (i hope)

can these little PITA spots, develope into rust if not treated?

how do you guys reach the spots along the back windows on the quarter panels and around the hatch window?

No they cannot.

It's not RUST really. It's just little burn marks and contamination in the paint.

Claybar the s*** out of the car and make sure the surface is nice as soapy. Keep scrubbing until you remove it, try using new areas of the claybar and you'll see it clean up real nice.
