2008 Mazda2 (Merged)

It's like the new Miata's. They're 2 seater cars with 4 cupholders...
that's perfect... that way, on long road trips, you can limit your stops; each person has one cup they're drinking out of, and another that they're using for, um...

europeans don't care about cupholders.

Its illegal to drink, eat, and use a cellphone in most of Europe while driving. Can you imagine spilling coffee on your lap doing 150 on the Autobahn?

they need to stop coming out with these extremely proprietary center consoles where the consumer would not have the option of being able to replace/upgrade the radio or add a 3rd party navigation system. it doesn't even look good in this car. not a very advanced/modern look
give it some time, metra or scoche (however you spell it) will come out with a kit sooner or later. if this car is marketed right, it could be the next scion xA, where the kids will buy it cheap and try to pimp it out with their allowance money.

except without the awful detailing... and the fact that Toyota didn't bring the 5-door Yaris to the US

Agreed. This is a ton better than Yaris...just looks similar, thats all.

The more I look at it the more it reminds me of a Yaris.

My sister has a red yaris harch and while the Yaris hatch looks quite cute in red, the Mazda 2 looks so much better!

Put it this way: I'd never drive the Yaris, but I rock a 2 in a heartbeat!

omg *drools some more*

I haven't been on the interweb all day (I was so extremely productive at work.. I wonder if there's a correlation), and I open my home page and see that leftlanenews posted a story about it with all the new pics. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

if it had a TTL rear suspension I'd be parting out my Protege5 right now (also assuming that it is coming to the U.S... I can hope)!! I know no one else does nice multilink independent rear suspensions in that market segment, but Mazda is the most raced car brand by a huge margin, so clearly handling is key to Mazda. Most cars in the Protege's segment throughout the generations had solid beam rear suspension (the j-body GMs, the Sentras..), and then Mazda one-upped everyone with some TTL lovin :)

I would have an INCREDIBLY difficult time deciding between the Suzuki Swift Sport and this. They are the top two cars on my "new cars that I want" list. Call me weird, but the Protege5 is a bit big for my tastes :D

werd. and independent rear suspensions FTW.

but what's up with that wack 6100rpm redline? little hatches need to have engines that can scream when you want 'em to. it's not an accord, after all....there should be some "rocket" in that "pocket rocket." my FX16 is happy running around around all day at 4000rpm (with occasional boots to 7500)...try that in a Fit or Yaris.

Well yeah you can't even start to compare the interior to the refinement of the Protege but it's a cheap fun little car (drive2)

I'd get one if my other car was a 350z :D
