2008 CX-9 Windshield Replacement and worried about BCM

Hi. Many years ago I hit a deer and had to have my windshield replaced along with other repairs. When they put in my windshield, they didn't seal it correctly and it caused water to run down onto the BCM in the kick panel and ruin it. That was fixed and about 10 years later it leaked again and did the same thing that I had to have repaired at my own expense. A rock has now cracked my windshield, and I have to have it replaced again. I'm worried about the same thing happening. Has anyone ever tried to waterproof the ECM in some way as I know those with sunroofs that get clogged drains can cause this problem. I was thinking of maybe wrapping the connectors in plastic or something else if better, but I don't know if these things create and dissipate heat, so I want to be careful.
