The only reason this is happening is because the redesigned 6 is delayed. Otherwise it wouldn't be happening.

I thought you would be happy Newf!!

There are only two changes I'm aware of at this point. They have added Titanium grey and Nav system for Canadian models.

The desicion to build the 07 model was because of the delay in the redsigned 6. We will get about half a model year with the existing 6 sedan (hatch and wagon are done), the 'new" 08 model will be out early next year. Another run of Speeds makes sense to keep interest up on the outgoing model.

Even more good news! You are making my weekend! I wanted Titanium again, best color I have ever owned. I was upset when I realized that all I could get was red, black and silver.

i have worked for mazda for some time now and its been known to the dealers for a good while now that there was going to be a second run. there have been releases from regional and corporate reps to this effect before the current ms6 even hit the streets. it has nothing to do with the redesign. same thing happened with the mazdaspeed miata and the mazdaspeed protege. there were always second runs planned.

Yup.

Some of you seem offended that Mazda is goin another round with the MS6 why? Like i read already isn't it a good thing, so more aftermarket parts become available in the future.

I sense a little sarcasm from you today :)

I really think this is a good thing...My point was that even if Mazda did several runs...The number of MS6s (or Mazdaspeeds in general) would be so few compared to the DROVES of Hondas and Toyotas already on the streets..That it would hardly change the ratio or rarity of the MS6.

Bottom-line...WE NEED MORE MAZDAS!!!...if you want the aftermarket to improve.

Btw this info ONLY applies to Mazda Canada at this point.

Latest USA info from the National QMD meeting indicates there will be no 2007 USA Mazdaspeed 6. I'm having this reconfirmed on monday with Mazda Japan.

mazda3's original announcement was for the Canadian market. Maybe there is some confusion between what the US intended all along vs Canada????

All I now is that I asked my source months ago about a 2nd run of ms6's. At that time there was no announcement either way for Canada.

Regardless, i say bring it on!

I say if they want to sell more Speed 6's then they need to offer 6 speed DSG style gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering column, my wife loves the car, don't get me wrong, but she can't stand driving stick, she drives stick cause she has to.
but if there was an option to be able to switch between semi and full auto then that would be the best of both worlds, in my opinion.
and I know that one of the newer miatas I saw at the dealership had the Paddle shifters.
Mazda NA should have offered this on the Speed 6 if they wanted to sell more, they definitely need to do this for the Speed 3 release.

the Mazdaspeed line is not meant to cater to people who aren't passionate about driving - if your wife wants an auto 6, I'm sure the 215 hp v6 will have plenty of power for her - and there's a manual override for it as well

totally disagree with this. MAtter of fact I couldn't disagree more. The day a Mazdaspeed comes out in an auto tranny, that would be a sad day.

Too many auto's out there now if you ask me and the ones that just have paddle shifters on the wheel, but are still really auto trannies....well that just makes no sense to me. Heck I'd almost call it factory rice.

I fully agree with you on that one. If it's a DSG and it has paddle shifters, then that's one thing, but when it's actually an automatic.. eugh!

Updating this info.

Mazda Japan has now confirmed there will be a USA Mazdaspeed 6 in 2007, as well as a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3. This decision occured after the national QMD meeting, and was reached due to 2007 redesign being pushed to 2008. My original information was from the first week of april, while the new info is from yesterday.

I believe, but am not 100% yet, that the hatch and wagon will also no longer be available (for 2007), so the Mazdaspeed 6 is being pushed in to fill the gap. No word on total production yet, could be higher the inital runs, which is great for aftermarket buildup, but bad for any owners hoping for an exclusive ride.
(Honestly being exclusive kinda fo sucks in terms of part costs and aftermarket...I'd rather them produce 200,000 Speed6's just so the aftermarket kicks into overdrive).

No word on the new color for 07 in the states.

(bump) for great info...Thanks for keeping us informed crossbow!

IMO...The more MS6s and MS3s the better! Those Mazdas will never be as numerous as other Makes and Models...

it's looking more and more like I will be keeping the MSP for another year. Just wanting to see how the MS3/MS6 hold up, and what changes will come in 2007

Good news, thanks!
