2007 Ms6

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!

agreed

:'( I don't care if they shift faster and better than a human, it's just not right. I don't care if it's a true manual transmission with computerized clutching, it just seems heathen.

keep it pure, keep it simple, keep it as a mechanical gearbox with manual gear selection and clutching.

Going to sell my no longer limited-edition screwed over by mazda lies! Speed6.... And get the new BMW 3 Coupe... 300 hp twin turbo AWD....

I love my 6.... But wasn't designed to be an evo or STI with bolt-on parts lego car... Everything about the 6 is custom... there are no pop-pannels or guage cluster locations... in fact just getting my stereo installed with all the extra controls i needed.. was a pain in the ass.. i'm still trying to find a location for my new LDC iPod display... NO WHERE TO PUT IT...

Anyway... if the new color is my favorite blue... or somethin else I would have gotten.. i 'll be very upset...

I've modded my speed6 a bit... and I love doing it.... but car just wasn't designed that way... even with aftermarket this and that... .I don't think it will ever pick up much... Evo / STI's have too much rep in the industry.. and for the little kids with money who are gonna go buy a sports car.. they think evo / sti....

It's not Mazda's fault you bought the wrong car. The target audience for this car doesn't care about Ipod's or aftermarket stereo's. The factory Bose is fine for the people this car is aimed at. Sure it would be nice to add another 50-75 HP, but if you wanted an EVO you should have bought one. I am impressed that the car runs 13.7 out of the box. Give CP-E sometime I'm sure you'll see some MS6's dip into the high 12's. That's all the target audience for the MS6 wants. It would be nice to beat stock Sti's, but the MS6 crowd doesn't expect to compete against crazy fast modded Sti's and EVO's.

I would assume that all the issues and problems listed in the tech database will be addressed in a new model. (hose mis sizing, power loss issues, driveshaft something, purge solinoid, transmission shifting/grinding issues, etc).

YES! (and yes, it is like nails on a chalkboard).... The reason I chose this car is precisely due to the lack of perceived gimmickery. No wings, no extreme body kits, and that thing of beauty -- the six speed. Could I shave a tenth of a second or whatever with paddles? Yep. Do I care? Nope. If I cared about speed above everything else, I would have bought something else...

Everything about the MazdaSpeed6 screams "DRIVER'S CAR." I just LOVE that the only transmission offered is a six-speed manual. At a time where other Japanese auto manufacturers are offering more "whiz-bang-lookkit-mee" features in their cars (and even Germany seems to be getting into the act), I have to give very high marks to Mazda for building fun, solid, SERIOUS driving machines.

We don't need no stinking automatics or paddles...

Glad you discovered Mazda :)

So am I! I'll say it again though, I never even considered a Mazda before I saw the Edmunds review on the Legacy GT vs. Speed6. I don't know how I've missed Mazda all these years. I'm definitely a car nut, and other than the occasional RX-8 I've seen on the road, I never really even noticed them.

But I sure am glad to be in the fold now. I told my wife I want a fleet of them... Miata for the nice convertible days, RX-8 when I'm feeling like winding a car up, and I told her she could get the new CX-7 (I think that's the model #? It's in Motor Trend this month... VERY cool!)... :)

It's the dream I have too. I want a first gen miata to go wild with in terms of suspension and turbo to use it as a track car, two Mazdaspeed Proteges (one stock and mint, one to mod as a daily driver), a Mazda2/Demio (wish they would bring it over) for a nice little commuter car, and a CX-7 for no good reason other than it looks awesome and has the MS6 drivetrain :)

.. oh and my Protege5 for getting groceries and stuff :)

Ok, I'll try to touch on everything in this thread with one post. The news of a second run of MS6's in '07 is a double edged sword. One of the greatest things I love about driving my MS6 is that I have yet to see another one on the road, hence the exclusivness of the car. However, I will agree that even with a second run, it shouldn't affect the rarity of the car that much, and will probably increase the aftermarket activity. As far as the DSG/auto issue...ARE YOU STONED? One of the greatest things about this car is that you have to be a driver to drive one. I've never owned an auto in my life. I like to be in control of the car, and that means manual. Plus I love the fact that 75% of the people I know, don't drive stick, which means not everyone can "take my car for a spin". DSG, sporttronic, tiptronic, whatever you want to call it...IT'S STILL AN AUTOMATIC. If you don't agree, just ask yourself this one question: "Can I ride the clutch for a smooth engine break through a corner at 50mph...with a DSG?"

Ive had my eye on a Mazda 6 since i first saw one. initally i thought- They are nice "sporty-sedans"...when i came across the Speed6 i almost passed out...This car is EVERYTHING a 30 something Father-To-Be Car NUT could have wished for..A sub 6 0-60, Sub 14 ( on a good day) 1/4 mile, a 6 speed manual tranny for god's sake!! 18 inch Rims, 200w Bose radio...the list goes on and on....Not to mention the most important deciding factor from the Subaru to the Mazda--- An ACTUAL FULL SIZED BACK SEAT...as i mentioned theres a child on his way!!

In short- I love this car, it fits me, my life and from what i can tell my future perfectly!! I wouldnt change a thing and i cant wait for the 07's cause that just means a more robust aftermarket!

So you already have a Speed6? Glad to see someone so happy about the car and seeing it for what it is and not as a potential "evo killer".

If I wasn't 20 and in college with no need for a car even as large as my Protege, and had 30k dollars to drop on a car, I would definitely get a Mazdaspeed6 over anything else at that price point.

You got it! Looks like Mazda hit the demographic right on with this one. I'm 37, and every day I drive the car, I think how much fun it is to drive, how wonderfully SOLID it rides, how much I LOVE the transmission -- those quick, precise throws, LOVE the stereo (better than any other car I've had, I've no need for supersubs, etc., the Bose is just fine for me)... And I can drive my stepson and his friends around w/o a problem because there's so much room. And oh yeah, his friends love the car. A couple of them had wanted Mazda 6's when they turned 16.

if this is true it ruins the whole exclusivness of the car. This is terrible news
AMy other car ran for 2 years before it ended production and I still feel somewhat cool about it. Only thing that sucks about exclusive is aftermarket blows.
