2007 Mazdaspeed3 Oil Change Interval

The 3 month or 3,000 mile is also a marketing campain from Jiffy Lube. If you recall from undercover work by some local news stations - they only change the oil in the car about 50% of the time and still charge you for the oil change.

Oh don't get me started on jiffy lube. It is the biggest scam ever. I used to work at one, we were tought to outright lie to people, it was disgusting. My manager was showing me how to change the differential fluid on a pickup one time he told me not to drain it but to just top it off and leave the dirtty fluid in there and this is something they charge people about $80 to do. It really pissed me off. I was fired for telling people the truth and doing a good job on their cars.

It's every 5000 or 7500 miles depending on the kind of driving you regularly do. For the conditions most people in any city area normally drive, you would be using every 5000 miles.

With ANY turbocharged vehicle, you should always use a good brand synthetic oil. I use Mobil 1 but Royal Purple and Amsoil are also high on my list, just not as easy to find as the Mobil.

Synths can take much higher temps before 'coking', which is basically when the burn and turn to a hard carbon/sludge like substance. This is very important on the turbo bearing, as this part gets very hot and when you stop the motor and oil stops flowing here, the oil can burn onto the bearing and greatly reduce the bearings life. This is why it's recommended to let the car idle a bit before shutting down after hard driving. But having a good quality synth oil also greatly helps with this.

i just do 5000 what the manual said dealer said 3000 but mazda usa i called and they said 5000 is fine manual says it. and your warranty covers 5000 miles intervals oil changes (for those that keep recordws)
most of the time they want you to do more oil changes why, they think you will always brign t in and they make money

excample
my dad and hi sfriend both have f-150 same dealer dad got the maintance package riend didnt,.
my dads scheduled oil chages are 5000 , the friend with out the package they warrant 3000 why, on 5000 they do less cause you paid a cheap price, the 3000 beacasue he will come in and change every 3000. our truck has 15000 miles 2 years 3 oil changes and no problem.

it also depends on how you drive, but oils are gettign better nothing wrong with 5000 mile intervals! heck some oils are gettign to 10000 for changes!

or check your dipstick at 3000 see hope the opil is. still clean why not keep going. black as night change it.

so the money you spend sending your oil out for analysis you could just change it ever 3k and not have to worry about it...its not the oil that breaks down its the additive package that protects the components...i will deff be runnin Brad Penn Penn grade 1, the green oil...deff some of the best oil in the world http://www.bradpennracing.com/

Regardless of oil type, I'd stick with a 3000 mile change. The turbo really heats things up and causes the oil to break down quicker.

I have lifetime oil changes from the dealership...for free. So looks like ill be in every 2000 miles. Not like im paying for it.

I opted for the 3 month anniversary I bought the car to take it in, and it was only at 2100 miles at that point. I'll take it in at 6k, but somewhere in between I'll do an oil change myself, so that it's not 4k before the next service.

The 1.8t was notorious for sludge. It had a tiny oil capacity (3.5quarts) and recommended 5k mile intervals using conventional oil. I ran 5k intervals on synthetic oil on a chipped 1.8t, (15-17psi of boost) in 115F summers and inadequate intercooling. I never had ANY sludge issues.

The speed3 with 6 quarts of oil, and a 5k recommended interval for conventional oil should be fine on 5k mile changes using synthetic. Adjust if you are coercing more out of the engine. I think 3k is overkill for daily driving.

When it comes to oil, IMO, there's no such thing as 'overkill' when talking about change intervals. You may very well be right and 5k is more than enough but you could also be wrong and 5k might be stretching it. Plus you're basing your theory off of experience with a totally different engine. The way I see it, it's better to be too frequent than infrequent.

True. However, this is my experience with a flawed engine design that had inadequate oil capacity. I had zero issues using full synthetic and the factory recommended intervals. I was also running more boost than stock. All this in a place with 120F summers. I'm thinking that 5k intervals will be fine if we use full synthetic in "normal" conditions. If you race your car, or increase boost, then by all means change the oil more frequently.

I'm one of the believers that the oil/repair industry have brainwashed the American public. These are the same people that charge $40 to check blinker fluid.

Change your oil on 5k intervals with good synthetic oil and good filters and we'll all be fine.
