2007 MAZDASPEED3 Engine Mount Bolt Safety Recall 4607F

I just got my letter the other day. Glad they are doing this, even though I had mine checked two months ago and it appeared to be fine.

Could you get a better shot of that! I'd Like to have that in my pocket when I fianlly go get mine.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Took the previous picture last night and my camera didn't know what the hell to make of all the dark with a white thing in the center.

I had mine done and afterwards, the car was noisy and vibrating big time. I took it back and they found out that 3 / 4 cars they did had the same problem.

There is a vibration mount between the engine and the tranny that apparently can slip out and they won't notice. They said it is such an easy mistake to make they are going to let Mazda USA know about it so they can advise all of their mechanics. So...if your car is vibrating / driving rough afterwards, have them check this....or remind them about it when you take it in.

I'm not sure that is the mount recall. It should have campaign number 4607 in it. Not clear what rework #746 is - maybe one of the Mazda guys can find out. It looks like the right sticker, but the info doesn't match.

#746 is probably the work number for my particular car. From what I see in the dealer letter, there is an indication about a sticker saying Authorized Campaign Label RECALL 4607F or something similar, however it ultimately says, check everything in the computer.

Apparently this process is not going as smooth for some as others, myself being the latter. I called about the recall approx. 1 week before the letter went out. The dealer vaguely knew of the recall, but told me the recall was " VIN specific", whaever that means. Basically what it meant was I had to wait for the official notice before I could schedule an appt. even though I tell them I have to travel to Chicago last weekend from Milwaukee for work. So I get the notice this week and call to schedule and appt. They tell me they have the parts and that I will get a loaner, and it will be done in 1-2 hours. Fine, I dropped it off before work, figured I'd pick it up after work today. Around 3:30 pm, still no call, so I call back. They tell me the recall is for the ENGINE MOUNT, not the bolt, and that since my bolt is damaged, they need to order a replacement. I tell them the BOLT is what is being recalled. So apparently they replaced the mount, but were going to just put the old bolt back if it wasn't damaged. I tell the service guy that I think they have this backward, that the mount requires replacing if the bolt is not to spec. or damaged. So, regardless, I will be getting the new bolt and mount, but have to wait two days with my car in the shop. Anyone else having these problems? I thought the directions/instructions that have been posted here were fairly clear, and I know little to nothing about car engines/repair. Not trying to rag on them, but this is their business and they should know a hell of a lot more about it than me. There does not seem to be too much concern about the engine dropping out, as when I mention this, they tell me "there has been no report of this in the field". I told them to tell that to the poor people here that have posted pics of their engine twisted and hanging on the ground. BTW, whoever had that signature of "not being a true MS3 owner unless your engine falls out" is classic!

The letter says that the bolt or the bolt and mount are replaced. So the bolt is certainly changed out, but it is the mount (so I was told...and shown by the tech) that is causing the problem.

yeah it's always better if you can either have the letter with you or print out the info from this thread.... to make sure they don't misunderstand.

The bolt definately get's replaced no matter what, and the mount only if the stocker is damaged.

Well, since I got both the bolt and mount replaced, I noticed high speed shifts into third are much smoother now. Anyone else notice this? Is it even possible for one to have such a big effect on the other?

that's also what I've been noticing, and one other poster on this thread said his shifts were also smoother.

Not dramatically, but it just feels like it goes in easier when shifting quickly.

My mount was NOT replaced, just the bolt. And I didn't expect to be able to feel a difference.

Also, the tech who did the work said my stock bolt was torqued to spec, so it wasn't like anything was loose.

*shrug*
