My local Mazda dealership closed it's service dept so I have to go through Ford service. To say the least it has been a nightmare. My car was running really rough and had it checked out at a engine shop as I was told I might have a intake problem. They said I had a Cat convertor problem and my warranty should cover it. I called the Ford dealership and they said it sounds like it would be covered and bring it in. I drove there (15 long miles though lots of construction) Guy tells me that's not under warranty its a external issue. I drive back to the engine shop and talk to the owner. He tells me that's bs and calls them. After being on hold for 15 minutes he talks to the man in charge of the service dept and he tells me to bring it in. In the end they were going to replace both Cats on my car. I had 7 error codes. 6 of 7 are from the Cats. So after a week the parts are in. I take it up to get fixed. They ordered the wrong clamps. So I had to wait basically 5 more days. They replace my front cat and said they have to order the rear now. (engine light goes off and no more rattle in my engine) My new cat came in Thursday morning. I was told I would be call when it came in I never was. My car died a day later. Won't run but will crank (battery was low also)

I get the car towed to a mechanic near where it died. (since I didnt trust the ford dealership to tell me exactly what was wrong with it) Very low oil in my car. Persistent bank 1 cam sense error (p0340)

My car has only 32,000 miles and my drive train warranty just ended in the last two months. Mechanic who looked at my car says will have to remove front cover to estimate damage. He said last time he worked on something like that it was at least 2,000. I'm sort of annoyed Ford dealership did not tell me what the Misfire code was. My car left with low oil or they did not tell me the oil was low. The mechainic where my car sits now said car will start but runs rough. Said he would not drive it and I should get it towed, Ford dealership didn't say anything other then my new cat would be in next week.

I'm not sure what to do. Does 2,000 sound a little high for such a repair or is this worse case scenario?

I wrote Mazda Customer Service with my ordeal and asking for a little warranty forgiveness for the horrible customer service I have received at this Ford dealership. I'm not crazy about taking my car back to this Ford dealership, but the closest Mazda dealership is at least 25-30 miles away. (I live in Michigan)

sounds familiar

Hey there, if you were to check out my "help" post I was wondering if anything I discribe is also what you experienced? It does sounds like my symptoms are pretty close to yours. Is one of your banks running rich? ... As far as the cost I would say 2k is a little steep, do some research online. And maybe call a few shops for quotes.. factor in an average of 45 to 65 bucks an hour for labor, @ ruffly 6 hours that's ( somewhere around 270 to 390 ) in just labor
