Volkswagen of America, Inc. Revealed its all-new 2005 Jetta at the Detroit Auto Show and also offered a sneak peak of the GLI, the upcoming high-performance version of this model.

The 2006 GLI shown in Detroit will join the Jetta lineup in late summer of this year. Volkswagen showed this car prior to launch to help generate early excitement about its new GLI strategy that clearly distinguishes it as an enthusiasts model apart from other new Jettas. Volkswagen plans to introduce the GLI as a distinct sports model in the United States, much like the GTI is the performance model in the Golf lineup.

The GLI offers many distinct features, including a 2.0 T FSI engine, offering an impressive 200 horsepower and 207 lbs. ft. of torque. This model will come standard with a six-speed manual and can be optioned with an automatic DSG transmission, and sport-tuned suspension. Other features include special 17-inch alloy wheels and performance tires, a new front grill and other aggressive exterior treatments. The overall dynamic experience will be enhanced with sporty interior features including performance sport seats.

Pricing for the GLI will be announced closer to the launch date.

I guess that's one way to get people to not buy your car. I love the 04.5 GLI's they are classy and look so nice, but what the **** is this s***. Nice wheel gap assholes. Only thing i think that looks good is the interior.

Remember this is a the pre production car. So hopefully its lower and is more aggressive. I do love the 04-05 GLIs.

The current one is much better.
Another example to show you why you shouldn't fix thing if it was already good enough.

it's too bad they killed the design and it no longer looks like a jetta. I liked how you could always see the basic lines from the original A1's. This one is a camry. The only way i could like this car is if they brought it back as a 2 door. And even then it would need some work.

The Current MK4 Jetta is 6 years old. It was introduced back in 99 as a 99.5 model. Is its time to have a replacement.

wow... like all of you, I too love the current GLI. This is just fugly imo. Horrible move.

it's gotta corolla touch to it. i think volkswagen was goin for the mini-phaeton look. the paheton is sweet imo, but this crap is fugly.
