Its better to have your money in your paycheck versus getting a big return. Uncle Sam doesn't pay you any interest, but will gladly use your money for free. As long as I don't owe anything, I'll be happy.
Yeah but I hate having to pay in and we make enough that if we claim anything but zero it is too damn close to call so I just say **** it and pay and wait for my interest free return.
Heck, it's not like anything in the way of a savings account is paying any interest anyway :(

So how much total did you guys end up paying in (after all child deductions and such)?
Not sure yet my company waits until the very end to give me my W2 but it should be a BIG ASS CHECK! (thumb)
It should be over 4 grand but I hate to guess.

WTF?!!!! How the **** do you get away with only paying in 4k in taxes a year? And that's for 2+ people?! I pay over twice that just for myself AND I more than likely make less money than you. *points at self....getting f-ed in the ass again*

P.S. Quit bitching about how spensive the private schools are for your brats and send them to that nice deluxe PUBLIC school that I'm paying for!(glare)

P.P.S. I've given you negative rep for taking advantage of me and the tax system.:)

Also, didn't you say you already filed? If so it should say the total taxes you owed right on your return.

i need to figure out my lifetime learning credit stuff and what i can count towards what i paid, like what loans take away, what scholarships, etc... fun stuff, i might just let h&r block figure it out, i can't do anything though until sallie mae gives me the thing saying what i paid in interest on my loans in the last year which won't be til the 31st.

well i had 2 jobs last year for a while and yhea waiting on the other job to send my w2... but i think they ahve the wrong address so now i have to wait until feb 15th they said to request a reprint... sigh

i never understand y people have to pay wana break it down for me?
When you fill out a W4 form you basically give the gov. a guideline on how much to deduct from each paycheck. It's never exact, and you can adjust your allowances so they will take less or more from your paycheck. At the end of the year when you file your taxes, the exact amount you owe is finally known, and you can then determine if too much or too little was taken out of your pay.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but it's really better in a way to have to pay at the end of the year, because if you are getting a tax refund, then that means the govt. has been holding your money all year, earning interest that should have been yours.

I paid 4771.60 to federal in 2005.

you mean this is what you paid at the beginning of 2005 (for 2004 taxes), or this is the amount on your W-2 for this year's filing?

Man I paid over twice that to federal this year. Asswipes takin my $$$ !

yea i always get money back just never understood y people dont. i thought on w4 is was basically 1 or 0 to pick (when ur single i guess) and id always pick 1* (i think this is the one where u get more back at the end of the year) cuz i like getting anice check that i hadnt planned on.
