2005 Saleen Mustang!

in a perfect world, those who are willing to shell out the serious dough for the GT version would feel like they were a part of a more exclusive group.

To my knowlege, there's only one trim on the G35.

You consider $25K "serious dough"?? You think anyone with a mustang..(even specialty models) consider themselves part of an elite group?!?! Yeah...they are litterally 1 in about 1.2 million...

The G35 may only have one model but the 350Z has like 5.....no'one gives a crap because they are all cool and well-styled. Same with the mustang.

hi, I'd like you to meet Steve Saleen....dork.
not according to the pic....did you see a blower under the hood?
1. That's not Steve Saleen driving the car.
2. The blower sits under the intake, in the valley, which is why the intake cover comes up to the same level as the wipers(!). Saleen needed that bigger hood for clearance. It also says Superchaged in red script on the intake cover.

The styling is wonky. Saleen's shark gill styling doesn't work with the retro-futurism of the new Mustang. Old Mustangs didn't have body kits, just flared fender, chin spoilers and fat tires. He should have kept it simple.

Since I have nothing better to do at the moment, I'll do you one better. Take a look at this.

Basically, the blower sites inverted under the airbox in the valley bewteen the cylinder heads. Air flows in through the throttle body and down the back of the intake manifold along the firewall into the supercharger inlet. Follow the red lines. Instead of pumping air down into the intake manifold, it pumps air UP into the manifold, which is then run into the heads through the intake runners that are visible on the sides. The drive belt pulley is visible, offset to the passenger side in the middle of the engine bay. It's a little complicated, but there's not much room under the hood. It's good packaging. I don't know how much heat soak migh occur with the blower sitting where it does, but hey, that's for Saleen to figure out. Not to mention this looks much cleaner than a centriugal supercharger stuffed into the engine bay.

The alternator has been relocated from the valley as seen on this stock motor
to the side, as seen in the above photos. Why? To make room for the blower. The alternator has also been turned around so the drive belt pulley faces the heads, so the belts can line up. It's not uncommon to relocate accessories/alternators to make room for aftermarket parts.

I must have missed it since it doesn't exsist.
You missed it because you assumed it would be in the typical location. Do you really think Saleen would send out his supercharged Mustang for a photoshoot without a supercharger in it and the word supercharger written on the intake cover?

I must have missed it since it doesn't exsist. If you follow the airbox it plugs directly into the Throttlebody. The eaton-powered motors have the TB on the back side of the intake manifold....

oops, busted, it's not saleen but at least I know what a supercharger looks like.
Sucks when someone proves you wrong, huh ?

Yes, sometimes deadlines aren't met in time and sacrifices made! I still don't see a clear shot of a blower but the picture of the relocated alternator proves it for me.

nope, not really. Columbus was wrong and he gets credit for discovering america. (stooges)
LOL, Great attitude (cool)

I am not being sarcastic.

Reminds me of the good ol' american muscle days ah yes the good ol' days. now time to see what the b**** can do.

The body is too busy for me, especially that spoiler. I like the fact that they are trying to bring back that look, but they overdid it. And they're supposed to be $25k??? I would have thought at least over $30k.

No s***... it was really my ancestors from Norway that found North America first... You don't see them talking about the vikings in text books much now do you...

It's alot easier to explain Christopher Columbus compared to mauradering vikings. If you ever watch the history or other discovery channel's, they always talk about vikings being like pirates. ****, pilligering and plundering everywhere they went. I think it's easier to not have to explain this to the kiddies at school. Who knows.

I never said they were nice guys.. ;)

Hell they owned (conquered) around 80-90% of the UK way back when but decided to leave... could you imagine what England would be like today if they had stayed....

Lots of women running around with a skirt and no bra... barebreasted. Oh and no gun laws.... lol

the result of vikings getting to North America is nothing. they have not established a colony nor have they written about it. Columbus and the discovery of america just happened to be at "the right time" when renaissance was happening and there was a rebirth of arts, science, medicine in europe. colonies were established in north amerika. we are here because columbus found america not vikings. that is why he gets the credit. :)

just thought i would add my 2 cents. now back to the mustangs.

the production mustang should have been the concept they showed in 2003. and that saleen stang doesn't look good at all.

Also, an interesting factoid for the day:

While Columbus got the credit for "discovering" America, it was actually Italian navigator Amerigo Vespucci for which the two continents are named after. And South America was named first.

Interesting, huh?
