2003 Tiburon GT?

... I never disgreed with your point. I have always believed a driver makes a car fast, not the other way around. But... that doesn't mean that the car isn't very powerful. A dyno is a test for the car, the track is a test for the driver. If you beat a car with less power, that doesn't mean the car isn't faster... it just means the driver can't drive it... to a degree. Sure, anything can be faked... in the cases I am mentioning... they are not.

Rip off plain and simple.

What is? The price he paid? If that is what you are referring to then I would have to agree. 17k with 17k on the car is a bit high.. but like I always say... the best price is the price you agree on no matter what it is. So, if they are happy with the car then they got a good deal.

How hard is it to drive in a straight line with an auto?

Yup, the price, to high for that car with that many miles, plain and simple.

My friend in north cali just bought a 2003 tib gt....aith 17000miles for about 17000....kinda high if you ask me, but anyway anyone know much about this car? I know turbo or supercharge is outta the question with that alumin. block but anything he should watch out for?

thx.

SoniCraze.......I run the Norcal Hyundai meets and we will be having one on Oct 23rd at a Haunted House in Fremont. Tell your friend to visit www.newtiburon.com and go to Forums/Southwest for info on all of our meets.

Here is the direct link to the meet: http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22466

To the rest of you guys, yeah I know it's only a Hyundai but I love it. I myself like the rest of you would have never ever considered buying a Hyundai and yes used to rag on people I knew who bought them. Mitsubishis were crap too back then, don't know how they are now but I still wouldn't buy one because there are too many of them on the road these days just like Hondas. I do remember when the Proteges first came out I always wanted one, just didn't have the money at the time.

But Hyundai has come a long way since then and has built better cars. I have had mine for over 2 years now with no problems. Sure there are some that are lemons but this holds true for every car out there.

When I bought mine I wasn't thinking about speed, I bought mine first because of the looks and second because I didn't want to be driving a car where there are thousands of the same one on the road.

I haven't done too much performance wise because I don't race my car but I do have the BBTB, bored intake, CAI, upgraded ECU, plugs and wires. My tib is fast enough for me, considering my lead foot and if it went any faster I'd big in big trouble. I do think it's funny when I get someone next next to me and they see my car and then see that I am a female and try to race me. What's even funnier is when they find out that I can keep up right along with them and I have passed quite a few!

But hey, I didn't come here to flame your cars, I do like them. I just wanted Sonic to let his friend know that their are Hyundai clubs out there.

Peace guys!

Trade in for that car would run around 9,700 and retail would be around 11,900.

17k is a rip off as I stated.

your a moron. my friend sold his 03 tib w/ 63, 000 miles. had body damage and a non working clutch for 12,000.

good condition 03's with about 10 - 20k miles sell for around 16 - 18.

A girl just traded in her silver tib auto w/ some body damage for 15k.

get your facts straight then comment.

Its not hard once your on a roll, but you tell me if your so good at this. How do you launch a auto, that is = or better than a manual launch? Hrmm??

Its incredibly simple if you have decent hp and tq. Just load it before the light turns and figure out how hard you gotta stomp the gas to get the tires spinnin a little after you let off the brakes. I've done it many a time in friends lincoln ls and a supercharged integ. It's really quite easy.

come on now guys... tibs ain't bad... they probably get the same bum rap from the honda guys as we do for our mazdas.....

just thank goodness that the tibs don't have those ugly ass lights in the front anymore. or that pontiac styling, side cladding body kit... hehe ;)

Check out this thread, not all the people here are tibby haters:
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84661

Guys, this grasshopper guy came on here to show his ride, he's proud of it, he didn't attack anyone until people attacked him.

Either way, the car is still in a reasonable price range and can produce some respectable power and looks pretty good. I don't think he came in here to bash Mazda, or any of us, just to correct the misconceptions at the beginning of the thread.

Red 2.0Tip, Who said anything about the Mazdaspeed Protege ??? nobody that participated in this thread even owns one. That would be like me going on your forum and making fun of an elantra while you guys are comparing tiburons to srt-4. Dont include my car in your arguments please. I think that stock vs stock, a Mazdaspeed can take a Tiburon V6 (ive done it at the track a few times back when i was stock) but of course, once the cars are modded, that's a different story.

I also don't believe in dyno sheets. they're cool for your own personnal use, but like Jeff said, they can be faked. A video of a quater mile run pretty much tells us how powerful your car really is. Not by the time because of the bad driver factor, but the trap speed.

Tiburon sack riders? It's merely informing those of you who have no clue...like I said since you MS Protege's are the BADDEST cars ever there is no point in trying to tell you anything.

yuh, trap speed tells all IMO, sometimes you have to factor in an AWD and tires being used, but for the most part i prefer to go by a trap speed
