2003 Protoge VS. 2004 Mazda3

Hey all,

Just wanted some opinions in regards to the protoge LX vs. Mazda3 GX

In terms of price they work out to be close in price, LX Pro for 19203.00 CAD (a/c, auto w/o con pkg and extra fees)
and the Mazda3 GX works out to 19660.00 CAD (a/c, auto with con pkg and extra fees) before taxes.

I know they are both great cars and the 3 looks alot sportier, but which is more reliable, economical and a better buy?

I'm leaning towards the Mazda 3 but would like your opinions.
I'll be purchasing anytime this week.

well the 3 is faster and a newer more refined design. as for reliability the 3 is new so there is know way to tell. You should be able to get the protege for a lot less sence it is a year old. I would go with the 3 myself but you should test drive them both and then buy a MSP

the protege has already a loss in the market for just being 2003.

i vote for the LX...maybe thats my biased opinion...i personally like it look wise way better than the 3...

and...ill sell you the 6 - cd changer for a HELLA lot cheaper than the dealer

I completely agree! But if you'd like to save a little money go with last the 2003 model (... on the mp5 vs the new 3 hatchback - the mp5 was a slightly bigger rear trunk space - but the new 3 has much nicer features)!

I have a mp5 but after test driving the new 3 I wish I had it instead ... Plus it has more options available that I wish I had on my 2003 mp5 ... but, if I don't get a RX-8 in a yew years, I'm sure I'll be looking closely at the 3...



...but I'm still waiting for Mazda to design a true fastback that is a hatchback (like their old mx3 or mx6/ford probe)
