2003.5_MSP build thread

No need to do a complete write up but I can get you what I did...

1: retrieve a factory lower lower honeycomb (p5,msp,mp3) all the same..
2: place lower honeycomb over dg grill or whatever you want to place it into..
3: I traced the center opening from grill, with a silver sharpie.. You will want to trace it a little larger than the opening so you can trim down..
4: I trimmed mine with my dremmel... But you will want to trim little by little then test the fitment.. If its not fitting the way you want repeat until you got it the way you want it to sit..

this plus

- make sure you leave the top upper flat edge to attach to the DG grill
- i used window urethane to attach my grill to the DG in case it ever has to be removed.

little middle bars can also be trimmed away easily with a dremel.

Thanks I forgot I removed those little center bars... Ill see how my attachment for mesh goes, can't remember if I left flat portion or not..

Biking do you know if that piping kit will work with a little tweaking? I know I'm going to need to get extra couplers.. ( I think some 90*, some 45*)

I think it would work, worst case you can cut and have pieces rewelded to make it fit better and use less couplings. i know i only have 4 couplings on my hot side as i had pieces welded together to fit how i wanted. IIRC i started with a very similar selection of piping.

Cool thanks, I was actually thinking of welding for less couplers... Also going to be sandin my Racing Harts this winter to fix curb rash from previous owner... Trying to decide on color once refinished and the options are;

1. Pearl white
2. Gun metal grey
3. Pearl fork blue (like the rota blue, but with pearl)
4. Black gloss / flat black
5. Bronze / Sti gold

Update alright guys, I've had an ABS light in for the longest time now... Finally got the time to have it flashed to me by the ABS light on dash... I got these for numbers;
43- RR wheel speed sensor fail
47- RR speed sensor input signal missing
51- open circuit fail safe relay
13- circuit fail of RR wheel sensor

Since all of these pertain to the RR would it be safe to call this sensor non operational, and replace it? Any help would be appreciated

I replaced my rear right last summer and it was easy. I bought mine off of ebay. From what I recall, take wheel off, undo bolt to abs sensor, and pry it off. You'll notice it runs into the car and this is where it's plugged in. I don't remember this part but the plug is behind the rear passenger seat somewhere. I don't remember if u need to take off any panels to get to it.

Sounds like fun, thanks for the help

Alright guys I just got the p0421 code last night, but I've had the p0171 code for awhile... P0171 code is more than likely for me a failing front O2 sensor, but I don't know what the other code is? I looked it up and it has to deal with the catalytic, but I didn't go catless on my exhaust... I went a high flow cat, so what could be causing this code... Thanks

High flow cats can still throw a code but typically don't with our ancient ECUs. P0171 is most likely a vacuum leak. Try installing a non-fouler on the second O2 sensor, I have one on my catless midpipe with no CEL.
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...ure-Cel-Mil-from-removing-cat-with-Non-Fouler

but what would the fouler do? ive had the exhaust for almost two years, and it just now decides to throw that code? Could it be the cold weather

edit: also cleared it and waiting to see if it comes back

I hate this -40 degree weather bulls***!!! I have my abs sensor, my front mount, RH's waiting to be installed/painted and not to mention it needs a good wash/wax.... Come on warmer weather!!!

yeah its such a hassle.

Ya, it's never been this neglected ever. Even in winter I would wash it by hand and then wax in the garage. Noo not this winter, hasn't even been washed once since the beginning of snowfall...

Update: my modding has slowed alot... I did just
receive my coilovers today though, now i have to wait to install ....them

Alright guys coilovers are installed, I will have to go take some pictures now... I also just ordered my FMIC piping kit (i already have my core/BOV) http://www.ebay.com/itm/390727862583?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
and this for my BOV http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-LIGHTWEIGHT-ALUMINUM-TYPE-S-RS-TURBO-BLOW-OFF-VALVE-BOV-FLANGE-PIPE-ADAPTOR-/171392721928?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27e7cd6408&vxp=mtr
So now my question is how does the maf relocation go? is it TB-MAF-BOV or what thanks
