2002 Protege5 Security System?

Did it come with a security system? Mine doesn't have it, as far as I know. Was it only an option?

i have a security system. i think its located under the dash, its a black box that says "mazda security" its not all that great. one time a sensor was broken and it wouldnt turn the alarm off. my dad just goes under the dash, pulled it out and it started. i wouldnt trust it to save my car from any theft but at least its there.

go out and get a good security sytem. one that if someone touches your car it freaks out and s**** on the ground to cause attention. As long as your car has a key with a chip in it and all your concerned with is it not driving away, your fine. (Immobilizer system).But for my pro I went with a viper system. I have installed the remote starts and the security systems offered by mazda for the protege's, and they suck balls. after a while they fail (modules blow ass). Get a exspensive after market one and call your buddy up and you and him can install it.

I have the factor alarm installed by the dealer when I bought my car. If you don't have a sercurity system now, just get a good after market one. The factory one is ok but after market ones have more features at the same price.
