What could be the problem with my 2002 mazda protege? It stalls when you take a turn and get back on the gas. Then I can pop the clutch and it will fire back up and run fine. It also idles at 1500 to 2000 rpm's. I have some idea what it might be just looking for a second opinion. If anyone has a idea what might be going on with my mazda protege just reply...Thanks

my 03 msp likes to stall alot. the nice people on this forum told me that my problem 10:1 is my wastegate. i dont know why. they just said it was and i know i sound like a retard but its early and i had a bit too much to drink last night. they said it had something to do with my wastegate being stuck open and aeir go something- pushing air being out of intake when i shift, though i highly reccomend you dont put your hand over your intake hole because your mazda will try to eat you. mnam mnam manm evil little mazda. oh yeah if youre turbo charged that might be the case. all y ou need to run an engine is 3 things. fuel- compression- and spark. thats what auto tech told me.

car is not turbo charged ,,where is the wastegate located,, i thought it would be the iac or the egv valve to thanks for your opinon,,and if you know anything else it could be just let me know,,thanks for your help the egr sounds like the problem because when i put the cluch in it goes form 1500 to about 800,and sometimes when i put the cluch in it allmost dies

is there anymore things i could clean to get a better performance,,car is ran very hard,,i race it on dirt tracks, what can get dirty and lower the performance of the engine

a. You posted in the wrong forum.
b. Check for cracks in the rubber/plastic air intake, which will cause a lumpy idle and possible stalling. Tape them up as a temporary fix then replace it asap.
