My wife has a 2001 Mazda 626 (I hate this car, but anyways), I have always changed the oil on my Chevy Silverado myself, she has always taken her Mazda to Jiffy Lube and paid the $30. I decided that with the oil companies ef-ing us in the butt with gas prices I'd just start changing hers too to save a little money.
So I got the owner's manual out to see how many quarts to buy and it says "oil filter must be changed by Authorized Mazda dealer because you need a special tool to retighten the filter".
WTF???
Can anyone tell me if this is true or if I can do it with my regular tools that I change my oil with? I haven't actually gotten up under the car to look at the filter. I'm hoping someone can help answer this before I go through too much trouble.
