P5
I'm new to the import scene so I might ask a few off the wall questions.My back ground is V8's.

I have an 03 Black P5 with 18's. Right now I'm working with another turbo kit manufactor on designing a race kit for our cars.
From what I know the weak link in the internal's is the pistons/rods.

I'm looking at building another motor before I install the turbo kit.Where can I find a used long block setup and what should I expect to pay?
Is there any big name head porters that port the 2.0L head?

Thanks

your best bet for finding another engine is where I found my replacement - the salvage yards. Basically any 2.0 liter four from a Protege ES, MP3 or Protege5 from 1999 on up will work. As far as I know, there are no "big name" porters. for our engine.

The weak link for turbo boost is NOT nessecarily the pistons or rods - the weakest link lies in the ECU fuel mapping and the fuel system itself. There is extensive documentation of this in the forced induction forums on this board.

if you want any advice on turboing a P5, feel free to PM me.

There were no 2.0's from 1999 on up, only 2001 on up. Pre-2001 the 3gen Pros came with the 1.8 version.

check out the forced induction section
you will see alot of debate on HOW much this motor can handle stock.
after you check it out then come to your own conclusion about how much power your looking for and then we can give you some honest opinions that can help you. good luck:D

List of the 3rd gen pro's

from 99-00
LX, DX = 1.6L
EX = 1.8L
NO 2.0L

For 01
DX = 1.6L
LX = 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L (different versions with different packages)
EX = 1.8L, 2.0L(Again, different versions with different packages)

for 02 onwards

2.0L for all kinds of pro's

Right no I'm only going to go with 5-6psi and run it on the stock motor.I have been reading the forced Ind. section and have found some good info.

the 626 used the 2.0L FS-DE in the 99-00 model years I believe this is what he was referring to....also for ports give tripoint or AWR a call

The tranny is weak but it will hold probably 300 hp easy...a clutch upgrade will be a must at anything over 175 hp though.
