1993 Timing Belt

I see a note for a special tool (49 D011 102) that is used to hold what looks like the crank pully in place while the bolt is removed. Can I get by without this tool?

I've chaned the timing belt on a 1988 323 and didn't find that to be too much trouble. I'm planning on swapping the water pump on this car. Can I expect just a bit more work to this, or is swapping the water pump a lot more work?

Yes, you just need to keep the pulley from spinning. You shouldnt use an impact on it either.
