1972 Datsun 510 (56k best of luck)

Nice. That'll be a sweet day for ya. When it eventually makes it haha. Ok yeah that's what I was wondering. Only thing with the flip that I have concerns with, well besides not having anything to really do the cutting and welding with is getting a new sway bar made for it. But yeah lemme know if you remember that name.

I really can't wait to begin on moving forward with my dime but still in the planning stages and trying to layout/planout exactly what I want to do with it.
 
Yeah it will definitely be a big party for me the day I driver her out of the garage lol. I'll probably actually have a big party. lol

Yeah I haven't started a thread as of yet will once I start to get things more laid out. But for now I'm thinking definitely a Ka24DE for power plant. Still not sure if I want to turbo it or stay NA. Right now I'm still in the planning/getting it cleaned up stage. It had been sitting for a lil bit so I've just been working at tuning it up. It has a flat topped piston/decked head L16 with Dual Su's and soon a EI dizzy just so it's a lil more reliable and well economic and easy to start. Did quite a test on it this weekend. drove up to Chicago in the worst weather possible haha. On the 700 mile round trip it only had one problem during the storm and that was just the coil wire was sparking over to the contacts so a lil electrical tape and it was good.
So right now I’m just trying to collect up names/places and parts. Right now looking at doing suspension and brakes and lighting here first, was thinking either 240z or 280zx struts up front whatever I can find really. Then do the 200sx brakes in the rear. Meanwhile I want to pick up the parts and all for the engine. Thinking I’m going to make the harness but not sure on ECU yet, wouldn’t mind going the MS route but have to look more into it. Then I want to go ahead and do the H4 hellas now as I could use that when driving it. Besides that just looking to get the body work and paint done maybe this summer or next semester, then when all that is done should be right ready to begin the swap.

Yeah, when I first bought my sway bar I got it off of ebay. They post stuff up every now and then.

the510realm.com, ratsun.net, and thedimequarterly are your best bets for resources. The KA is a great motor, that's what I was originally putting in mine, but I got a GREAT deal on the SR setup. 280zx stuff is the stuff you want to look at, 240/260/280 Z stuff won't work. If you want some 200sx rear calipers let me know. I have a set sitting on my work bench, or I have some 82-83 280zx rear calipers.
 
Yeah I've been on those sites for a while now. Also been talking to the guys over on the 240sx forums for parts and DE info. Hmmmm well I might take you up on those brakes if things don't work out with a car. A guy around here is trying to get rid of his old 240sx just to get it out of his yard so I might have an interior and plenty of wire and other odd's and ends to work on the datsun with. I'm interested in the braking system as well to see if maybe I can't fab up some brackets or something to make those brakes work for it. If that doesn't work out though how much would you want for the 200sx calipers? You have the brakets for those as well?
 
Not bad, Well I'll definitely keep that in mind that you have them. For now though I'm going to try and see if I can fabricate something to work with the 240sx brake I was able to get. So how have things been going with getting her runin?
 
Haven't had a chance to work on my baby in a few weeks. Things been really hectic between work and getting ready for a move.
 
No real updates, sole the mesh wheels. Just got some 240sx SE wheels to hold me off right now. Once it stops raining I'll try and get some new pics.

Well got my billet spacers and my drive shaft shortened thank to my neighbor, ordered some new brake lines and picked up a '79 280zx master cylinder tonight. Spacers and driveshaft installed, hopefully get the lines soon, and working on getting the master cylinder installed, just need to modify the stock 510 rod to work the with 280zx MC.

Need to post up the new pictuers fo it back on the ground, with the temporary new wheels, and spacers!
 
Thanks, yeah she has come a long way. Got a reman master cylinder, ball joints, tie rodends and TT 300zx fuel pump coming in. Hopefully get it all installed in a timely matter. Still need a turbo and work on some wiring. Hugh the pic a couple post back is the most recent one really, other than this one showing how low I can go up front.

Got my MC, and fuel pump in today. Got installed, now just need to install the brake lines and bleed them.
