Is there a major difference in how 18's feel compared to 17's cuz i wanna buy some rims but want to keep a good ride(feel). Anyway should i also take into consideration that i'm gonna drop it too.Let me know what ya' think. Thanx.

i just got rid of my 18's and went to 16's. The ride is pretty harsh with a 35 series tire... performance was great, but i just didn't think it was worth the harshness.

yeah im on 18's and if you get 18's and lowered your pretty much gonna have to be on 35 tires. and thats VERY ruff. but...............they look so sexy!

i agree it does look sweet.. but i have to commute everyday.. and i just got tired of it.. and my girlfriend was as well.

this was the day i bought it...

what's a 17z? :p

the ride is very good with my 17s with 215/45-17 tires - your speedo will be slightly off though (gotta be careful because if it says 79 it's really 82-83) but your odometer will also be slightly lower over time ;)

also make sure you get the right offset (in 17x7, look in the range of +45mm to +48mm)

at least on a protege

any size that requires a 35 series tire is impractical IMO

I am on my 16 winter rims, and i like the ride quality of my 16s better then the 17s with a 40 series tire. No way should you get 18s if you want to keep a nice ride quality

when I switched from 17s with 40 series tires to 17s with 45 series tires, it made a big difference... ride is very good now

I think i need a rim with the correct offset, then i could get a 45 series tire, cause right now my 40 series rubs in the rear...

i want to see you fit a 285/35 on a protege...
So yes it is still impractical

MP5 16X6 or 17X8 Mazda 3Rims

What Can I do I have a 2002 protege 5 with the 16X6 that take 195/50/16 the problem is no one in cinncinati Has any, I can get Kumho's but the snow is coming and the directional pattern failed the snow test last year, so I'm trying to find Mazda 3 rims, or 6 rims I think they are 17X8 What other Mazda rims can I buy?????

I have 17x7s with 205/40s. Car is lowered 1.3. Ride is not crazy rough but noticeably different than when the 215/45s were on it & not lowered. 205/40s make speedo say 60 but really doing 59.4. 215/40s will make it say 60 but really 60.2. Want to go to 215/40s but not sure if it will rub when car is loaded. Right now 3 bikes, 3 adults & gear don't make it rub or bottom out badly at all. Afraid 215/40s will have issues. Anybody with 215/40s & lowered 1.5 all around? Any issues? Can't speak to factory sizes, car had 17s already on it brand new from dealer with 56 miles on odometer. I don't even have the 16s...............

it all depends on the offset

215 width will fit just fine if the wheel is the right offset

205/50/16 is a much more common size, and will fit just fine on your stock wheels. Ask for those next time and you should find a variety of sets. When my Dunlops wore out, I ended up with a set of Toyos in that size.

a quick question for ya, I just put new shoes on my car(2002 Pro5) I ordered them from edge racing and was told that there would be no problem(they have a fitment promise thing) anyhow they are 17x7 with Pirelli PZero Nero 225/45 on them. when I took it for test drive no rubbing sounds (I think at least) but the rear suspension sounded a little weird once or twice. my question is that I can't find what offset it has and the tires come w/40 psi is that a normal pressure?
