17" MSR Wheels from Accord on a P5

Ok need help from one of our Tire Guru's.. I have a set of 17 X 7.5 MSR wheels from my former '00 Accord that I know the bolt pattem and bore is fine but the offset I am a bit unsure about.. I took a picture of the back of the wheel hoping someone can figure out if they stamped what the offset of the wheel is on the back.. From searching i've found on this forum that +50 on a 7.5" wheel is preferred on the P5..

Here is my problem.. I have a buyer who wants them for a '01 Accord but I think these would look really nice on my Silver P5 but I think the offset might make these stick out on a P5.. From using Tire Rack's Offset Measuring guidelines it looks like these wheels are +55 or more..

Anyways here is a picture of the back of the wheel.. There are lots of things stamped on the casting does anyone know if they cast the offset on the back of wheels and if so what should I look for.. Any help would be most appreciated..

it will most likely, if there, will be a number from 35 to 55, different manufacturers use different abbreviations. like 45j or what have you. But thats what i would look for is a number in that range and a letter/symbol beside it.

MikeBlueP5,

Thanks for the heads up.. The stamping is light but it looks like it says 60J now I assume that is +60 would that be too much for the P5?

if it is indeed a +60 offset with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern then they should fit fine. The only way to really tell is to take a wheel off the p5 and test fit one of these. I am not a wheel expert by no means, but i do know a few things about the offset, backspacing and whatnot, but your best bet would be to test fit it.
Mike

EDIT: By the way i did some searching on the net, and the only listing i found for the MSR wheels listed only a +42 offset, which will not work, according to rishies fitment guide, if you havent seen it just go to the wheel/tire section and it should be one of the first posts at the top. Says read this first Rishies fitment guide.

Mike can you shoot me the website you saw the MSR offsets and specs..

Thanks for your help!

Might just pop by my buddies tire shop tomorrow after worrk to get him to test fit.. Just moved into a new house and don't have a poured garage floor as of yet so I can jack the car up and do this myself..

EDIT: No worries Mike I found it.. MSR Wheels

Looks like it is +42 which won't work will it??

but there are people on here with a 42 offset and they say they have now problems. bolt em on and take an easy test drive and you will have your answer either way

MYFBPEX00,

My only dilemma with doing this is the rubber on the tires right now are 235/45/17 which works for the Accord but not the P5.. Don't really want to buy tires for these rims if they aren't going to work.. All else fails I do have a buyer craving for these rims with money in hand for his Accord.. I'm thinking of perhaps jumping up to a set of 18's with the money he is giving me plus a little more.. :)

Before I do this i'll drop by my local custom tire shop and get their input before I make my next move.. Thanks for your insight.. Much appreciated!

I would recomend going with selling those and going with something light. Those look kinda heavy... no offense...

Rishee's tire recipe says that you need a +48 for 17x7.5. I think that if you really need those MSRs on your P5 you could have them machined down.

You can look up a guide for the right tire size, too, but I think that I calculated the closest to stock circumference is the 215/40/17.

I've also posted an offset calculator on here before, but I'll post it again... http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/houpro5/offset_cal.jpg

Hope this helped.

I hate to say this...but they're ugly as hell. Big chrome "Wal-Mart" Special rims. Yick. Just my 2cents.

houpro5,

Thanks for the offset calculator.. Used the formula and confirms that these MSR's are +42 offset.. Dropped by my local tire guy this morning with rim in hand.. He mounted it and says it will work just as long as I don't lower the car.. In my eyes they don't look right on the car so I will be selling these MSR to the Accord buyer..

Aazel,

Thank you for your opinion.. But they aren't that bad a wheel.. 24 Lbs wheel according to the MSR website.. Its not a forged aluminum wheel like I have on my Lexus (18 Lbs. - 19" wheel) but for this Silver P5 it would of looked OK if it fitted.. :)
