122mph!

I've gotten mine up to 145 with the top down at 3am on the tollway. I was racing a Porsche Turbo. I don't really have to even say who won.:D
 
so tell me...explain drag limited and explain a fuel shut off or spark cut for me...im not tryin to be an ass but maybe you can explain that to me and ill tell you whut i experience in my car
 
It's computer controlled, not drag limited. If it was drag limited then you'd feel no more acceleration at WOT. I feel the car accelerate until something either cuts the fuel or ignition when I hit 135 and there's still another 1000 RPM left on the tach. That's completely stock, so fuel-cut boost wasn't a factor. Computer controlled.
 
yeah, most stock proteges are limited by drag before the fuel cutoff or governor.
I have hit 135-140MPH when suddently the car hits the wall, done it 5 times in one race, next time I will take a video.

My car is not drag limited now because of the added power that the turbo is giving the engine it can get more speed up to ecu max setting.
 
i've spoken with several people about this issue..there is NOTHING in ANY protege that would "cut" spark or fuel. Physics proves our cars to be OEM Drag limited at about 132MPH. Period. Now, Igdrasil has boosted his car. No matter what you do to your car at some point it will still be drag limited..You may have only bumped it up to about 140 until the drag max. I've MAXED my car on the southbound FDR before.. I have a 2002 DX..It wouldn't break 130..It feels like there is nothing left. In an MSP however, it feels like the car has a little more to go because it lurches one it hits the speed. This is because of the boost. It hits that speed..Can't push anymore and can't supply anymore fuel..So the car lurches and slows back down..Thats what I've been told about the MSP..but bottom line is this..there is NOTHING in the proteges that governs speed, fuel cut off, or spark cut off..
 
fuel cut off = governor, there is no governor in the 3rd gen proteges.


Maybe you are talking about hitting the end of you gear at 132 when your car slows. The car is also drag limited at that speed, although the foglightless non mp3 faced proteges have a higher drag limited speed, as their drag coefficients are lower but only very little.
 
theres no limiter cept drag on our cars, ive hit 148 mph in my car. dont flame i have 270 whp and 13 psi, i did it, i blew my tranny up because of it

i have done 192 in my gixxer boosted 750 bike. 125 is ok, 140 is like night and day in ANYTHING and on a bike, anything over 150 feels like your head is goin to pop off.

but whats with this thread? wow 122.... ? is there something that happend when you hit 122 or just saying you hit 122. cause i hit 130 last night just crusing along side my buddies svt focus. he can hit 145 that b****. and hes stock. stupid focuses. lol

ok i give up cause apparntley everyone knows whut happens with everyone elses car...im not trying to be an ass by saying this but i mean damn...i know whut a fuel shut is and whut drag limited means...and my car has a fuel shut just like some on this board have said about their p5s...i dont know if im just one of the unlucky ones or whut but i definately have a fuel shut in my car...sorry you guys cant accpet that i do even tho you all act like you have been with me when i hit 132 in my car...dont think wrong by this post but i mean...its like you think im lyin but thats all im sayin

I can relate. At 132 my car shuts down. Its like hitting a wall.
Be cruising along at 6000 RPMs in 5th gear @ 128, then 130 and then all of a sudden at 132 BAM you bite the steering wheel the seat belt locks and your back at 128 and accelerating again.

Take it to 130 and and hold then I'm OK

i know excatly what danoook is experince i cant get past 110 hits 110 and slows me right back to 100 im so pissed because ive hit 120 before and now i cant. i dont knwo whats up with it.
 
not much..hehe...yea, thats how drag effects the car..it just lurches forward and slows down..there are no, zero, nada goveners on 3rd gens..period.
 
well....could be that my injectors maxed out but Im sure my car shot down @ 140mph or right before it. Then...@ 130 it resumes.

I got scared the first time, I thought I blew my engine until it resumed and everything was all right.

Then I pushed it again and did it 4 more times.
