12 sec RX-8?

if you wanna run 12's in a 8 you'll need this, intake, exhaust, header 150hp shot of nitrous and slicks. There are a few turbo and supercharger kits out but i would wait a bit on those

If you have driven a Rx8~ you wouldn't compare it to EVO and SUBARU... Rx8 is all about handling~ i wouldn't like to make it a 12 sec car for it's setup.
for power? Turbo all wheel drive is the way to go
for handling and endurance ... i am sure you would satisfy with RX8 or even honda would do good for you
for me driving is fun when there are corners... depends on what driving means to you

i think you need to drive the 350z before you buy anything else just ride in one or drive one if you can.

did i read that right?? the sti and evo are also "made for the corners", they're not drag cars.

um i dont know if youve driven an STI but their handling sux ass, my stock protege had a much better turn in feel and didnt feel so floaty, the EVO on the otherhand handles well!

if you want a Scoobie know that you're going to want to get an STi or at least a tranny from one... too many blown WRX trannies around KC to count. that has a lot to do with people not knowing how to drive/race AWD cars but the effect is what really counts. I'd either go the G35 (over the 350) route or Evo8 route. I love the RX8 and would love to have that kind of revving freedom but if you're looking for a solid platform to build on with strong factory/aftermarket support I would head in that direction.

Get the RX8 if you want it. I got the P5 and sold it close to 1 year after owning for a mazdaspeed protege. Because the after market support sucked at the time. Now looking back i wouldn't have had 9,000 dollars overhead and could have gotten a sweet kit from MAM and had the turboed p5 i wanted when i bought it. Just get it and wait and parts will come. I just didn't like the front end of the RX8 the rest is nice. But don't think that after a year or sooner that there won't be a s*** load of parts because there will be. I'm sure the market for that car is bigger than the proteges and look how many parts we have to choose from now. If you want a better car, get a G35 thats my next investment.

I'm going from a 13 second Protege to an RX-8 here shortly. Overall power and performance are not my #1 goal. I want something different and I've been a Mazda fan for the past 6 years. :-)

I do like the EVO VIII and STi, but I want to get away from that look of car. I've talked to a number of people who have researched both and ended up liking the STi over the EVO.

Here's another option everyone will hammer me for....
What about a GTO. It's not really American, very good numbers, mods already out like exhaust, intake, turbo, computer, heads, supercharger. etc. I saw one on eBay with like 1k on it and the buy it now was 23 - 24k. Not bad. Nice interior. 6speed, big balls. V8 rumble. bad gas milage.

My friend has an Evo III. I think its a piece of s***. At around 10K the clutch went out. Now at about 16K the 5th gear sincro went out. He doesnt launch or race the car

hmmmm rx-8 with a supercharger... i never seen a supercharger on a rotary engine..... i donno about you but i like more custome work. if u get the rx-8 and u make custome S/c or turbo ull be one of few.. not like ooh look another 9 sec evo or ooh look another 9 sec Sti.... .. p.s. any one got a vid of a supercharged rotary engine??

Forget the RX-8 if you want to post fast numbers, get a 3rd gen and kick everyones ass, and you'll even have some left over in the bank...

True, a 3rd-gen will handle quite a few cars out there, but money in the bank? Ah, it sure is nice to dream. Seriously though, what matters to you. I've been in all three, and they all have their pros and cons. Try all of them out, then decide. Good luck.

guys come on!!! lets just get it over with...you want handling, speed, ect?? get a porche carrera GT....that'll get you (confused)

and if its pricing your worried about....just steal the damn thing (eekdance)

This months issue of Road and Track has the Pettit SC RX-8. It's still in the tweaking stages, but is running and has shaved half a second off of it's quarter mile time. There are also several turbo setups in development, and look at this:

That's a 362 HP turbo RX-8. It CAN be done...the question is how bad do you want to do it?

RX-8 is all about looks
And handling. Name a car at that price that handles better right up to and a little past the limit. All it needs is great tires. It isn't for boy racers, but it's a sweet car. If it snowed here more than 3 times a year I'd get a WRX though.

I like the RX8 look the most, and just imagine an RX8 that lived to its name would be teh hottest!

Before you think of a 350z, think of the lawsuit the owners have pending against Nissan right now.

i just bought an 8 and i have to say, its awesome, the handling, the look, the jealous stares other drivers give you, its all great. Not to mention going from a protege 5 to that the power difference is huge

Offtopic-What lawsuit for Nissan? heard some silly things about headlights being stolen or other crap. There also has been the on going lawsuit between Nissan Computers and Nissan motors for the name. That lawsuit is BS and the car company should leave the guy alone, he had the name back when Datusn was out!!!
