11.5mm xmax 6.5" sub

Heh, my friend has one of the ED BIG 8s (not 8a) and it is pretty cool... takes 1kw fine and gets damn loud. Little speakers that make big noise are sweet :D Perhaps I'll try one or two of those Tang-Band 6s for my computer setup.

if i had an enclosure that used a driver that size i would definately try it

wonder what one of those would sound like in a bose "bass module"

Tangbands, yes. Noone seems to have messed with them much due to the depth, There are a few custom builders who use multiples in tight spots as subs with reportedly "notbad for what it is" results. JL used to offer a couple of 6's that were much preferred. Now, though Adire's comingout with the extremis6, and there's going to be a dual8ohm version as well as the existing dual4ohm. They sound REALLY good. I've heard them in small sealed monitor applications and been astounded that the sound being heard was truely coming from just that pair of 6" MT speakers... Sounded as though they were playing down to 30hz easily. http://www.adireaudio.com/TextPages/Extremis6PageFrameText.htm 13mm ONEWAY. I'll soon have some of them in my home stereo They're actually worht more than just supersmall sub-use though they DO sound good as a midrange as well.

i run a sub/sat system and having bookshelf speakers that i could actually set on "large" and have them produce decent bass would be nice

not available yet, They'll actually be distributing through a different company now, but think kit81 only in a more compact form. andyea. amazing lowend for bookshelf speakers. I'll actually likely be doing towers with a pair of extremis and a tweeter each, and nosub.

Some of the 6"-6.5" are pretty good. I'm putting a JL in the spare tire like the stock P5 sub. It sounds great and is much better than the factory one.

i thought about doing that, but i was gonna use one oits only a 10" though and i dont think a single 10" would be enough for me

Poseur, I wouldn't really compare these TBs with the Extremis, since the TB is a subwoofer. You are right though, the Extremis will be hot. I saw a video of one playing free-air... quite impressive. They are going to be single 4ohm and 8ohm also.

Are you going to build the new kit speakers Adire is coming out with? I'm jealous... I am just about finished with my HT and then they release new stuff. I have the KIT 281s in transmission line enclosures, the LCC, and used to have KIT51s for rears. I'll probably use a design with either the Extremis or the CSS 4.5" (kit41) for the rear.

I actually have some CSS 4.5" drivers here that I am just about to try out. The enclosures just need me to cut holes in them :D

whoops, lots of rambling... :)
