waterpump went out. replaced, as well as timing belt. I jus timed the cams and went starte it jumped outa time again. redid checked crank and cams. retimed. won't start. ichecked if the car had a fire and nope. are my coil packs bad? what could be the prob.
engine rotates good jus no start... also my cams had "I & e" as well as 2 lines (a full line and a half line on each cam) its possible ihave it lined to the wrong marks but would that really effect enough to cause no spark??

You need to line up the cams and the crank perfect or it won't start. Get a repair manual from a local parts house and check the proper timing procedure. Someone on here might have a PDF copy...

iwill check my camshaft positioning sensor

If the car ran before you did the water pump then the cam sensor should be ok. Unless it got damaged during the process. Check the cam gears. I think there is a slot in the outer edge, this is what you line up. Thing is I'm not sure because i've only done the timing belt on a 1.5.

so your saying if the timing if off it will effect the firing order to the plugs? It's not gettn fire

being off 1-2 tooth will make it difficult to start the car, but unless it's off by more than that it should still start. Being off timing doesn't affect the firing order. The valves are not opening and closing when they should which mean the car might have detonation/pre igntion issues and by extension reduced power. Correctly timing a transversely mounted engine can be difficult, the next time you attempt to time the car, start at the cams and work it at the crank sprocket instead. Crank the engine over twice to make sure the marks are aligned.

Check the crank sensor. When my crank sensor broke I didint get any spark. The air gap on the magnet might have shifted. Mazda told me the air gap specs were .5-2mm. I just put it as close as possible.
