1/4 mile times with slip

I can keep traction on a 1-2 flat shift.... I have a pair of hoosiers that say so!!
I have a 2 step also... So i launch at WOT then 1-2-3-4-5 all the wat down the track ... WOT !! 12.82 @ 108 with basic bolt ons, tell me i'm wrong.

I know you're just being confrontational, but I'll humor you.

extenuating circumstances:
1. slicks
2. pulling ignition

So yes, technically you're at WOT, but the car is being otherwise limited to a lesser engine speed. And even so, you're running slicks.

Lets be serious please.

I have not looked into this part of the details yet. But for you guys that have success in getting the most out the car do have trouble getting third under full load? I hope this thread is also how we can down the track faster.

Yep, 3rd can be a b**** to get in if you don't have an upgraded rear or tranny mount. I find it difficult sometimes to get it to go into 3rd, and I already have a rear mm.

^Anyone with shifter bushings or a STS want to chime in on this. I've always wondered if they help out with the vague 3rd gear.

upgraded motor mount was the biggest improvement to shifting hands down ( I do not have a STS).

I've since added the bushings and the only difference I felt was once I was in gear there was no extra play esp when you're really slamming into gear but personally I felt this addition was NO WHERE the improvement as the Rear motor mount. And any initial notice of this improvement with the bushings was quickly gone either I got used to it very quickly or there was really no noticeable improvement. This is my peronal feel. The OEM bushing behind 2nd gear was squashed tho upon removal I found this.

I have always had trouble 1 - 2. I think ... think... its slightly improved now. Beyond that the only one that is a little awkward is 4 - 5. I've missed 2nd more times than any. Wish I could tighten that up.

The mounts and bushings help greatly, but it's still a crap shoot by my standards. I still jam 3rd on occasion. I'd agree that the lower mount is the single greatest improvement.

A couple of decades of driving RWD cars with great shifters has me a little jaundiced on this particular aspect of the car. But it's workable, just have to really pay attention when I bang the gear.

Check it, yo

sleeper3 - 2.234, 8.742 @ 84.18, 13.365 @ 106.75 (I/IN/IC/MM)

Thank you very much, I'll be here all week.

Hard to say. I changed the inlet also, and the track was completely overhauled and much nicer, so the combination of the three was definitely beneficial to my ET and trap speed. I can hit a 13.2 on my current setup. I know it.

Also, check this out:

The run...

Nice run, stock tires still?^

I have a question for those of you that have mastered "the burnout" lol. How do you do it? Do you use 1st or 2nd gear? Do you just set the e brake, bring up the revs and drop it? Do you need a little momentum first then set the e brake? Do you need to reach a certain power level first or is stock adequate? I tried yesterday just fooling around and smoked my clutch big time. it took a good couple of hours for it to cool down and start grabbing like normal again. I realize that the stock tires don't benefit from burnouts but I plan to get a set of drag radials at some point so this is just practice.

This may just be unique to me and my car. But I discovered, more by accident and experimentation than by design that I can flat shift (powershift) from 2nd to 3rd with better consistency than trying to granny shift with lift throttle from 2nd to 3rd! I still have the stock MM's.

I've done this enough that I just have more confidence at WOT flat shifting to 3rd and hitting the gear more consistently. I'm wondering if the flat shift happens enough faster that there is less time for the engine and transaxle to move. Just speculation.

Thanks for posting "The Run." Awesome performance from minor mods.

It's a combination of you having complimentary mods that work together and knowing how to drive, especially the launch. 2.2 sec. 60 ft. times may be about as good as it gets with FWD on these street tires and rims.

I had 3 runs with a 2.1 60 foot time ;)

I'm pretty sure with tires that aren't completely bald like mine are, 2.0 isn't out of the question with my set up.

theory sounds sound

good point. I can see how that could be true. I'm on it. I will try it out this weekend!

yep. There were definitely a couple of cars that I thought should have beaten me that I took to school. It was fun.
