and getting 24.5 mpg on the last tank full with mostly in town driving. I'm not gonna worry about it until spring when it warms up and the cold idle time diminishes. Jim

Hello. What gives? This post should be at the other end of the thread!

P5 Fuel Economy - what are you getting

I see a bunch of people in recent threads complaining about fuel economy, and not getting the MPG they expect.

I have been getting @ 27 around town and 33 on the highway. This is in MA where we have the "winterized" gas, which usually lowers MPG a bit, so it could be even better. I'm not a leadfoot, but I certainly don't drive like a Granny either.

What are other people getting?

well even though this has been discussed a lot before.....

its all dependant on how I am driving.....If its all town driving and I am ZOOMIN around? about 22-25 mpg......if its all highway driving....about 30 mpg....and that is with crusin at 85 MPH, that was with the car fully loaded, 4 people and our lougage, the A/C on, and in the heat of the summer.... I have never been able to do any long highway driving and keep it down to 65-70 yet....so I would expect better at those speeds.... :{D

Junk,
hey, fellow central Mass guy, I just bought a P5 from Gallo Mazda in Worcester, where you from?

on a previous milage thread, they were taking about getting better millage after the car was broken in ( after 2000 miles or so)
I am getting about 22 with both highway and intown driving. I do have a yakima roof rack and I know that will do a pretty good job of killing the highway milage, but to it seems a little low.

at what milage should I start to see an increase?
has anyone gone to the dealer with problems of low gas milage?

Mileage

Hey,

Ive been averaging on the highway w/ auto trans around 28 or so and in the city it is around 24-25. Yea, it is not what I expected and a pretty good bit below what the sticker says it is suppose to get....Go figure.....

Although,,,,if you remove the whole roof rack, it will net you 1-3 miles per gallon better.

Why would you go to the dealer for this?
